Official Miller Park Food Thread

brewers19

I have rarely gone to Brewer games the past couple seasons due to my work schedule, but when MP first opened I always got two hot dogs and a side of fries with a medium soda for around 10 bucks. Then if I had any money left, I'd buy a bag of peanuts.

But I kind of like the idea of having a chain restaurant inside the ballpark open to the general crowd instead of just Fridays. A friend of mine from high school is originally from Detroit and he said they got a McDonald's inside Comerica Park that serves Value Meals during the game.

About the lines being long, I think most people tend to gravitate towards the first concession they see near their seats. If you are willing to walk a little bit, the lines won't seem as long elsewhere.

I remember when MP first opened up and I saw the Kosher dog on sale at Gorman's Corner, I thought that was what they are serving as hot dogs then... it took me another game to realize they sold regular hot dogs within 500 feet. I think to make things a little more fan friendly, they should have a stadium food menu directory like they have at malls showing you where specific stores are.

The beer prices at the stadium are way too sky high for me. I only remember one game where I actually had more than 4 beers in a game, all the others I had just plain soda or one beer.

Sometimes at games, my friends and I try to "eat for the cycle." This means that you have to finish a hot dog, a brat, an Italian and a Polish in 9 innings. When they added the Chorizo at some of the concession stands and in the race, we were faced with a dilemma. A dilemma we have not yet resolved. What do you guys think, should "eating for the cycle" require that you eat all five sausages or should it remain the traditional four to be more equivalent to hitting for the cycle?

Eating all four could still be hitting for the cycle, but eating all five could be like saying, "I also tossed a scoreless inning in relief, just for good measure".

Look under C for concessions. They also have it in the guest information guide they hand ot for free at the guest realtions centers. You are right though if you don't know where to look for the information it isn't exactly easy to find.

Now, if I had full season tickets and went to like 70 games, it'd be a different story. I have a Friday night ticket package so it's an extension of going out really. I don't buy beer during day games usually.

Yeah I understand what you are saying, but wehn I go out I can still get a pitcher of beer for the price of one beer ar Miller Park. Heck I remember when I used to go out with my friends and we got $5 pitchers at most places.

I love the nachos with peppers, but this season they seem to be hotter than last year so sometimes I go pepperless.

chicken nacho grande? I will have to seek out this stand and try for myself, thanks.

I'm way in favor of the Beef Grande. That stuff is simply awesome. The price has slowly gone up over the past 3 or 4 years... I think they realized they had something and put up more stands and jacked up the price. It is still worth it though imo. If you're lucky they pile on the toppings making it a pretty good bang for your buck.

You're right about the peppers though... they seem a lot hotter this year. I used to ask for extra now I just ask for a few. Don't get me wrong I like hot food but they're a lot hotter than your basic pickled pepper.

I disagree about having chain restaurants in there. Having a McDonalds where you can get a value meal is tacky and low class in my opinion. Not at a ball game, ya know? I mean, isn't there enough places to get McDonalds at everywhere else? Do we need one in the ball park too?

I'd hate to see McDonalds, Subway, etc being served everywhere. I like ballpark food when I'm at the ballpark. And Miller Park offers a huge array of food. Check out their menu and you'll see a ton of different things you can get.

I think they do a really great job of food service in Milwaukee and many writers would agree. Miller Park is thought to have the best food service in MLB. Seriously, go to some other stadiums and see what they serve, it's terrible.

I go to games to get away a little bit. I'd hate to see chain restaurants in there. I think they do a good job providing Milwaukee things and other things as well. There's plenty of variety and the quality of the food is exceptional for a baseball game. I enjoy the uniqueness of the stadiums offering and the personality it creates.

Bingo. I think you just answered your own question sort of. You ask for fewer. Good idea really, use hotter peppers so people don't require as many seeing as it's a free side item that only shrinks the profit margin.

I went and saw the Brewers play at the skydome, i think it must have been the early 90s and back then at the concession stands we MacDonald's, not sure if it still that but i didn't;t like that, to me going to a baseball game is either a hot dog or brat. Please tell me they don't have sushi at Miller park.

And go to other stadiums. At Shea it cost $7.00 for a 12 oz beer! Now that's a rip off!

Exactly. I don't think many of us know how furtunate we are with the prices and Miller. At Busch and GAB, brats are 5 bucks and normal hot dogs 4 bucks. Everything there seems to cost $1-2 more, which is annoying and can really add up over a full game.

For anyone looking for a Chorizo, just outside of section 415, there's a stand that has them. They are delicious. I got cheese fries for the first time the last game I went to and didn't realize just how big the helmet was. I got halfway through them before I had to give the rest away to a friend of mine because I got too full.

Not to mention you can go 2 blocks away to McDonalds and bring it in if you crave it badly enough.. I have a buddy that sits next to me in my season tickets and he brings Subway sammiches in all the time..

In 2001, there was a concession stand behind home plate that they served cousins subs, is that stand still there. Does anyone remember the guy who walked threw the stand s selling old style, i remember one game he yelled old style and then each section at county stadium yell it. everyone knows who the maniac is, anyway his sister used to sell luscious at county stadium, they looked nothing a like, she had long red hair.

I think Miller Park should offer burgers at more concession stands. I only remember two or three stands that made burgers and I wouldn't mind buying one at a game.

Oh, and I agree sgtcluels, the fries always seemed to not be crisp at all. Miller Park also needs to serve Icee's, if they do forgive me.

also, you could just pick 3 sausages that you absolutely must have every time to the ballpark and "platoon" the other two. Or just start eating and when it's time for your 4th sausage, you can opt to "pinch hit" with the other remaining option.

perhaps they are now using jalapenos while previously it was pepperchinnis (banana peppers)?

I agree with HebrewHammer here. At Diamondbacks games, they have the standard ballpark fare (dogs, brats, nachos, peanuts, etc.) but they have Peter Piper Pizza, McDonalds, Coldstone Creamery, and other chains. It's just NOT the same thing as ballpark food. You can get that stuff anywhere and anytime. Besides, a beer and a quarter pounder just don't mix in my world.

Ugh, and I'm just imagining how long some of those burgers and fries and other stuff had been just sitting there under a heat-lamp.

Yep, I can remember it just like yesterday. . . . ."PABST! . . . . MILLERMILLERLITE! . . . . . .OLD STYYYYYYYYLLLLLLLLLEEEEEEEE!"

And, yes, that's not a typo. He really said "MillerMillerLite" like it was one word.

There is an awesome old dude (who might have some sort of disorder) at PNC in Pittsburg who sells Lemonade. He walks up and down the aisles screeching lemonAAAADE! lemonAAAAADE! It's hilarious. I recorded a video of him on my phone and played it back, the people in front of me heard it and cracked up laughing. They said it's more fun watching him than the game. It helped that the Brewers were killing the Pirates that day.

Are the burgers at Miller Park even very good? I can't say I've ever had one. If they're like the ones at Lambeau, I think I'll pass...they're OK, just very bland. I do agree that I don't really have interest in seeing any more chain restaurants at Miller Park...what's the point, when you can drive down the road and get the same stuff, probably cheaper and fresher?

I wish they sold High Life at more spots in the park, but I suppose that wouldn't be too viable, since most people just want watery Miller Lite, I guess. At least you can usually get MGD from the walking vendors in the stands.

I don't think just having chains in there is the answer, I'm thinking more like summerfest where there are chains, local restaurants, etc. I'd think that restaurants would be lining up to get in there. And McD/Subway is not the same as Culver's/Chipotle as far as chains go. It would absolutely have to be more upscale though, not like a mall food court.

I also don't think MP does a good job with the food service. Lines are way too long and there are just not enough outlets to get food. On the 3rd base side, there is the pavillion near 3rd base. If you don't want burgers or sausage, you have to walk all the way to the home plate area. There is nothing in between. At Chase field, you'd have 4-5 food outlets there.

All I want is a little more choice, and less institutional style food. Some of the stuff might not be ballpark food, but I'm not suggesting that they get rid of the beer, brats and hot dogs... why limit choice? I'd rather have a Cold Stone chain place in MP than the crappy ice cream place behind home plate. If you're going to have the lowest quality soft serve, topped with generic toppings and fake chocolate sauce, then why have it at all?
