Texas beats Baltimore 30-3 in Game 1 of Doubleheader

Did anybody watch SportsCenter last night and hear Tim Kurkijan's reaction? He sounded like a little school girl. His voice squeeked more than that mouse's that lives in the ceiling tile above me.

Now this is what I don't get, and it's not a knock on you, Rickieweeks23, but on the guys ON Sportscenter (it actually aired on BBTN first): Laughing and mocking Kirkjian's reaction to the absurdity of the events of this game. Seriously, I would venture a guess that every human being at one time in their ADULT lives have been giddy as a schoolboy about SOMETHING, be it extreme joy over something, or something just absurd.

Kirkjian is an outstanding baseball analyst who genuinely LOVES his profession--you can just tell. He is a guy that I would love to have a beer with and just talk baseball--doesn't even have to be Brewers. So what if he got excited that his voiced cracked a bit. The complete zaniness of the game almost demanded some excitement to describe how indescribable it was.

When you love a job so much that it sometimes makes you look a bit disheveled due to excitement, you are in the right profession. Kudos to Kirkjian--those other guys on BBTN (Buster Olney, Kruk, and whoever the lead-guy was) maybe need to get a bit excited about something that no one alive has ever seen, rather than sit there like it's ho-hum and make fun of the one guy who actually cares.

This morning ESPN did some conversion work and figured out that to match a similar offensive output, an NFL team would have to score something like 113 points and an NBA team would have to score over 600 points. That's just incredible.

I don't buy the 600 points. With the shot clock, I don't believe that's even physically possible. When I was trying to come up with comparisons in my head with the NBA, I went to 200 points. I think that's about right.

The NFL guesstimate wasn't that far off from mine. I was thinking 90-100 points. 113 seems a little high, but certainly more plausible than 600 points in an NBA game.
