Yikes. Looks like the Orioles just let the pitchers take their lumps considering there's another game tonight. 30 runs is the most runs scored in a Major League game since 1900.

Too bad for the Rangers it only counts as one win and not five wins. But at least their expected Pythagorean record will take a huge leap http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

Kason Gabbard's RS numbers are going to go up slightly.

Jayson Stark's going to have a field day with this.

Not every day does a team lose by 27 after taking a 3-0 lead. Hell, I would have guessed the Brewers would do that first. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

Michael Young's a freaking bum. HOW DO YOU NOT DRIVE IN A RUN? http://static.yuku.com//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/eek.gif

29 hits. 6 home runs. 2 doubles. 21 singles. Now THAT'S manufacturing runs.

I think they just wanted to show up Garrett Anderson.

Think the Orioles are regretting that managerial hire?

Wearing my heart on my sleeve since birth. Hopefully, it's my only crime.

As long as we're posting disparate sentences, I love how Wes Littleton pitched 3 innings and got the save when his team had a 27 run lead.

I remember when the Brewers beat Toronto 22 to something and got 30 hits. I need to find that box score. That was crazy.

Man I love baseball reference:

Interesting to see the Crew only had four extra base hits. 27 singles. Yowzer.

This morning ESPN did some conversion work and figured out that to match a similar offensive output, an NFL team would have to score something like 113 points and an NBA team would have to score over 600 points. That's just incredible.

That just isn't right at all. That is insane.

I think that the game that was the previous record holder for most runs in a game, had some funny business associated with it, where one team "sat out" in protest of Ty Cobb -- something like that.

30 runs is unreal

I don't believe it was the previous record holder, but here is a blurb from an online article about Cobb's history mentioning a 24-2 Tigers loss:

On May 15 1912, Cobb assaulted Claude Lueker, a heckler, in the stands in New York. Lueker and Cobb traded insults with each other throughout the first three innings, and the situation climaxed when Lueker called Cobb a "half-[expletive not allowed on this family-friendly site]". Cobb then climbed into the stands and attacked the handicapped Lueker, who due to an industrial accident had lost all of one hand and three fingers on his other hand. When onlookers shouted at Cobb to stop because the man had no hands, Cobb reportedly replied, "I don't care if he has no feet!" The league suspended him, and his teammates, though not fond of Cobb, went on strike to protest the suspension prior to the May 18 game in Philadelphia. For that one game, Detroit fielded a replacement team made up of college and sandlot ballplayers, plus two Detroit coaches, and lost, 24-2. Some of major league baseball's all-time negative records were established in this game, notably the 26 hits allowed by Allan Travers, who pitched the sport's most unlikely complete game. The strike ended when Cobb urged his teammates to return to the field.

The crazy thing is a Texas reliever actually got the save in this game for pitching three innings.

The Capital Times in Madison began including in its MLB coverage this season the 'fantasy four' - four players whose performance the day before would make a difference in your fantasy baseball competition.

I was amused to see that in today's paper, all four players were Rangers.

Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.
