West Virginia (audio, not the game), at least early on, pre-empted because the radio station is covering high school tournament baseball at Appalachian Power Park. Manatees broadcast on as scheduled for those you looking for an audio appetizer sample prior to the Brewers game.

Yo cruising through five innings -- who are we kidding, he's more than cruising -- check out the line thus far, what a stud:

5.0 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 9 K, 78 pitches, 52 strikes

The last five outs he's recorded have all been strikeouts swinging.

Final: West Virginia 11, Kannapolis (White Sox) 6

Sweep! Not official yet, but they may as well start printing post-season tickets in Charleston -- big surprise, another double-digit night on offense...

West Virginia Box Score:

This lineup might give Jake Peavy fits right now; reliever D.J. Lidyard with a disastrous sixth inning, but settled in nicely after (what else) the offense picked him up -- that's all this amazing team does, is pick each other up constantly; top five in the order scores all 11 runs, while driving in eight -- enjoy poring over the specifics here...

Final: Brevard County 13, Daytona (Cubs) 4

Brevard County Box Score:

Mat Gamel on base four times, scores four runs; Charlie Fermaint must be reading -- hopefully this is the start of a great stretch, just a triple shy of the cycle; who does Ryan Barba think he is -- Taylor Green? Workhorse Ben Stanczyk in game # 20; Josh Wahpepah still styling out of the pen, a unique role considering his low K rate...

West Virginia Site Game Summary:

POWER SWEEP KANNAPOLIS

The West Virginia Power offense scored eleven runs on twelve hits as they completed the four game sweep of the Kannapolis Intimidators with an 11-6 victory on Friday night to win their seventh game in a row.

Kannapolis scored first on a two-out RBI single from Stefan Gartrell in the bottom of the third inning. The Power answered with a three-run fourth inning. Kenny Holmberg hit a two-run bomb, his fifth of the year, and Andrew Lefave drove in his first of three runs on the night with a sacrifice fly. Kannapolis scored in the bottom of the fourth inning when Hancer Vargas walked with the bases loaded and the Intimidators tied the game in the fifth inning on Lee Cruz?s RBI double.

The Power scored three times in the sixth inning to take the lead. Lefave singled in the first two runs and Brent Brewer knocked in the final run of the inning on a two-out base hit. Kannapolis came back and tied the game with three runs in the bottom of the sixth. Gartrell singled in a pair of runs and scored the tying run later in the inning on a wild pitch.

The lead didn?t last long as the Power pulled away with a four-run seventh. Holmberg?s base hit scored Darren Ford and Chuckie Caufield?s base hit plated Holmberg and Michael Brantley. Brent Brewer capped off the four run frame with a sacrifice fly. The Power scored one final time in the ninth inning after Andy Bouchie singled to left field and the ball got past Lee Cruz allowing Caufield to score.

D.J.Lidyard (2-1) allowed three runs on four hits over three innings to get the win, and Clevelan Santeliz (0-4) was tagged with the loss.

The Power improved to 37-15 with the win and the Intimidators fell to 24-31 with the loss. Three Power players had multi-hit games, including Michael Brantley who recorded multiple hits in every game of the series, going 13-for-21 against the Intimidators, and four players drove in multiple runs.

The Power will begin a four-game series against the Greensboro Grasshoppers at First Horizon Park on Saturday night. The Power will start right hander Mike McClendon (5-1, 1.83). The first pitch is scheduled for 7:00 PM (6:00 Central).

Additional details on the Intimidators' site on the dominance of the Power:

West Virginia Completes Sweep of Kannapolis

Kannapolis, NC ? There are only so many times a team can get back up after it has been knocked down. The Kannapolis Intimidators battled back from scores of 3-0 and 6-3 to tie it up both times, but the West Virginia offense proved to be too much, pulling away from Kannapolis, 11-6, at Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium Friday night. The loss at the hands at the Power (37-15) marked the first time this season Kannapolis (24-31) was swept in a four-game series.

Kannapolis starter Fautino De Los Santos was thought to be the best chance for the Intimidators to stop the West Virginia offense. De Los Santos plugged the hole, but did not seal it. He did not allow a runner in the first three innings, but gave up three runs on three hits in the fourth. He left after five innings in a 3-3 tie.

The Kannapolis bullpen continued to perform ineffectively following De Los Santos?s exit. Ryan Rote, brilliant in four shutout innings in the first game of the series, gave up three runs in one inning. Clevelan Santeliz continued his lackluster string of appearances, giving up four runs (three earned) in his one inning of work. By the time Joe Winn entered the game in the eighth, Kannapolis was down 10-6. Winn allowed just an unearned run in two innings, pitching on back-to-back days in his first two days in town after being called up from extended spring training. The bullpen in the last six games has now thrown in 30 innings and allowed 24 earned runs.

The offense matched West Virginia hit for hit through six innings. From the seventh inning on, the bats sputtered, though, as Kannapolis did not have a hit after the sixth. Stefan Gartrell was the main cog in the lineup, going 3-for-5 with three RBIs. Brandon Allen extended his hitting streak to seven games with a double. Archie Gilbert pushed his hitting streak to eight games with a single.

In the series, West Virginia?s offense, the best in the league, tallied 37 runs on 54 hits. Kannapolis totaled 26 runs and 37 hits, yet could not find a way to come out on top in any of the four games.

With the loss, Kannapolis has now lost five games in a row and nine of its last 10. The win for the Power gave it seven straight victories.

Santo walked two and handed over back-to-back home runs in the top of the ninth.
