I'm not impressed with Bill Hall

billyhallfan

Just ign the players who are performing well to multi-year contracts and trade away the players doing poorly. Simple as it gets.

It's working well so far for Zambrano and the Cubs http://static.yuku.com//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/tongue.gif

I love it!!! It is nice to see many of you are seeing the light and realizing Bill Hall is majorly underachieving. I stressed this back in June during the good times. At that time, people ripped me and kept using the stupid position change excuse. Nice to see that some are realizing this guy is just simply not getting it done. I was one who had expectations for that this guy would be a team leader and really produce. Maybe not last years numbers...but at least 30 homers and 90 RBIs with .275 average and .350 OBP.

At the same time, Rickie Weeks was getting ripped to shreds, I stuck up for him. I did agree he needed the minors because he was plain awful. I think we may be realizing the wrist WAS the reason that this happened. He looks like a total different player now. Hopefully, Billy can change and is willing to adjust like Rickie did. Too bad it is too late in the season to send his butt down.

Bill Hall has stunk this year, it's as simple as that. I know he wasn't 100% and we can only hope that's it. Or he just had a bad year, which happens sometimes. But he has been simply terrible this year.

Maybe he got paid and he's lazy now?

Whatever it is, I've lose all faith in him this year and he should be a platoon player.

Hopefully next year he comes back string and plays like we know he can.

Hall doesn't seem like the type of guy that would get his money and stop playing hard. He's having a rough season, but I wouldn't give up on him yet. If he gets hot in September people will forget about his struggles earlier in the year.

You know who does belong near Reyes and Jeter. Hanley Ramirez. He should have been an all-star this year and will probably from here on out during his career.

Exactly, Hanley is a great player and my brother loves him. But as for Hall, I think that people have too lofty of expectations for him considering that he carried our team last year and is struggling this year. Hopefully he will finish nicely and use that for next year. As for the "excessive" celebration that BHF pointed out, I don't really tend to care what they do, as most players stand in the batter's box for half an hour looking at the ball.

When you deal in small samples its easy to go back and point at being right every time one of your guys goes on a hot streak.

So now billyhall fan isnt a Bill Hall fan. Come on show some faith. Hall has had a bad year but I still believe in him and think a hot streak is coming. Show some faith in your guy!!!!

His obp is .317. He has 36 walks and 104 strikeouts! I remember you saying that anyone who doesn't take more walks has no business as an everyday major league player. Which is it with you?

Just read from rotowire that Hall changed his batting stance for yesterday's game. Surprised to come here and not see any threads or comments about it. (Maybe I'm missing it, didn't check the IGT.) I didn't get to watch last night's game, just listened on the radio and was completely unaware. Any thoughts/comments on it? I think the FSN pre-game show is about to run a small piece on it.

Hall has had more down times than up this year, and there's really no logical explanation for it. He's just struggling - I'm sure a large part of that is due to other teams knowing just how dangerous he can be, and making sure to not pitch to his strengths. It's all about Billy making an adjustment back, and he's really having a hard time doing that. All of our players have gone through this, but unfortunately Hall's is seeming to last the longest. As mentioned, he can get hot at any time, and attempt to make up for prior struggles down the stretch. I like Ned dropping him down to the 8 spot - a prime example of a good managerial move. Doing that 'worked' with J.J., and it'll allow the damage of ineffective plate appearances to be minimized as much as possible. We know what you can do when you're hot, Billy. Here's hoping you can turn it on sooner rather than later!

Small samples? People on this website live on small samples that are much smaller than this.

Is it true that Bill Hall is bad this year? Is is it true Rickie is having a bad year? Yes to both, but Billy's struggles far surpass them of Rickie.

I don't think many would be ripping Hall if he were putting up these stats as a utility player like he used to be.

Then many would say what a nice luxury it is to have a utility player with some pop in his bat like Hall's.Over 10 HR's,over 30 doubles from a utility infielder. Not bad at all .

I think many are down on him simply because of the stats that go along with the position he plays.

It's not his fault CF was thrust upon him.

Enough about the CF switch. CF are not usually power guys and in fact 2nd basemen and SS have more power these days so actually he is in a position that hits weaker than he was in before.

2007 Average NL CF: .272/.335/.427

2007 Average NL SS: .278/.337/.416

It's only a slight difference, but the average CF has a higher OPS this season, oddly enough due solely to power. Though in previous years the difference was wider, and I think it's correct to assume that a CF should be a better hitter than a SS.
