Manny Parra--what is he doing up here?

pitchleague
This isn't a Brewer thing, its a baseball thing. Parra already is doubling his IP over last year, don't you think that is probably enough? Trying to squeeze out 1 or 2 more wins this year isn't worth blowing out the future of our teams arms this season. Starting Parra and/or Gallardo the rest of the year makes absolutely no sense.
Okay, I'm reading the IGT and see this quote from Ennder. And I agree with him completely.

So my question is, if he is doubling his IP, why not shut him down this year? Why have him up here anymore if he's not going to be used? The comment just kinda struck a nerve (not in a bad way or towards Ennder or anything).

EDIT: And. . . . . I look like a moron because I stopped reading the IGT to post this, and then when I go back to it, bruceciskie (sp?) already kind of said the same thing I did.

Mods, don't know if you want to leave this open for discussion or not. I may keep reading the IGT and see more discussion on this topic.

He's just sort of the back of the rotation guy. Maybe not the best role for him but it does get him some major league innings under his belt without pushing him over his 150 IP limit. I don't really feel we are choosing RP's based on Parra being on the team.

Yost tried to stay with linebrink today as a way to try to limit his top end RPs' innings, not Parra's. He stuck with Capuano to try to make him prove he belongs in the rotation which can be seen by the fact he let him go back out in the 7th when he really shouldn't have. We had other RP's available there so Parra wasn't the limiting factor I don't think.
