Had to pull up this thread again. My son was telling me about his first day back at school and a game of tag they played during recess. He talked about a "safe zone". So, I asked him if that was gool? He just stared at me blankley. Does anyone remember this from their childhood, or was it just something weird from our neighborhood? Gool was the safe place where you couldn't get tagged.

Yeah -- I certainly remember this. In fact my brother and I more often would refer to the clothesline as "Gool" in non-tag competition.

 

My mom yelled at me a lot for saying "gool" when she thought it was supposed to be "goal".

 

If wikipedia had been around in the 70s I probably would have got yelled at a lot less.

Katuluu, I never heard of that movie (documentary). Is it out on DVD yet? When I first saw the trailer, I thought it was a Spinal Tap or Best in Show type spoof. Then I went to IMDB...it appears to be a real documentary??!?

It's still in theatrical release. It's a real documentary, and it's absurdly good. I have been raving about it in the DVD Rental thread.
