Converted relievers

Right now, three-fifths of the Cardinals' starting rotation is: Adam Wainwright, Braden Looper, and Joel Piniero. It makes you wonder if the Brewers have any guys who have been stereotyped as strictly being a reliever who would actually be effective as a starter. How about Matt Wise? He can only pitch once every 5 days anyway. We might as well get some innings out of him. Greg Aquino? The occasional control problem won't hurt as much if spread out over 7 innings. Sarfate?

Pineiro was a starter forever, pretty much until the first half of this season.

 

Wainwright came up with the Braves as a pretty big time starting prospect, then continued to start with the Cards in the minors, then had some arm issues, after which he worked in the pen last season.

 

Looper is really the only one that I would say is a reliever that got turned into a starter, and he has an ERA over 5 with a miserable K rate.

Sarfate had been a starter for a long time. Wise was a starter as well before his acquisition by the Brewers. Aquino was a starter until AAA.

 

Generally, your pitchers with your best stuff are starters until they prove they can't be during the development phase, or sometimes while in the majors.

Wainright and Piniero are like if Parra and Villanueva start for us next year. Looper is more like if Turnbow became a starter next year.

Sarfate should be moved back to the rotation based on this year. Then there are the Capellan's that pretty much want to be a RP and not a starter.
