Jim Powell just said that "Dave Bush just made another big mistake."

Mistakes. That's not bad luck. When you continue to make mistakes, you're doing the wrong things, which lead to bad performances. Bad pitching. Not bad luck.

Designated Rotation Stooges do stuff like that. I'm getting tired of it.

When Boosh is in relief, he does OK. When he starts, he can't face hitters a 2nd time. When Sheets returns, DB is in the pen...

"So if this fruit's a Brewer's fan, his ass gotta be from Wisconsin...(or Chicago)."

I think we can start thinking about taking the 'designated' out of that comment and just call them all rotation stooges

LaRussa used to place the pitcher in the 8th spot when Big Mac was on the team. I think his reasons were so that Mac could always be up in the 1st inning and he would have just as many RBI opportunities (theoretically). I am sure he feels the same about Pujols.

La Russa hitting the pitcher eighth has backfired on him this series.

How?

On Tuesday the Cards got their 5 and 6 hitters on base. then molina grounded into a double play, bringing up the pitcher with a runner on third and two outs.

Was that the day Wells went 2-3 with 2 rbi?

Also seems to be backfiring today.

Its amazing that we don't walk Molina with a base open and the pitcher on deck. Brilliant managing again!
Whos fault is it? (I'm asking this honestly). Is it the catchers mistake? Is it Maddux's mistake?

Its the manager's fault he didn't get walked. But then again he didn't have a big enough clue when Molina hit the HR in the 2nd inning. Add it to the list.

Honestly, it has to come down to the pitcher's responsibility - Molina has hit two mistake pitches served up by Bush...the location and pitch selection were poor in both scenarios, because with the pitcher's spot due next, why they wouldn't want to try and get Molina out off the plate on the outside (away from his power) I don't know.

Intentionally walking anyone in every situation just leads to big innings, and there would have been a big advantage to having the pitcher's spot leading the following innings off had Bush actually been able to get Molina out.
