Impossible. Even if we get swept by the Reds (ohh that sends a chill through you if you think it)

Cards sweep the records would be.

Cardinals 61-60

Brewers 62-62

Cubs 61-62

Cards take 2 of 3 the records would be.

Cubs 62-61

Brewers 62-62

Cardinals 60-61

Cubs take 2 of 3 records would be.

Cubs 63-60

Brewers 62-62

Cardinals 59-62

Cubs sweep records would be

Cubs 64-59

Brewers 62-62

Cardinals 58-63

As sad as it sounds the fact that we are sure to be in only 2nd place after this series going into a nasty road trip makes me feel bettter. That is really a reach.

I really hope we don't go into next season with Turnbow as our closer.

I entirely agree with this sentiment.

To pile onto Dave Bush....

Dave Bush pitched poorly in giving up 2 HRs to the #8 hitter. Now, I would never IBB Molina, however he has to be pitched around, especially with 2 outs. Take Counsell and Weeks as an example -- both suck as hitters, but have decent OBPs because they batted 8th a lot this year and got some walks. When the NL as a whole decides to walk a batter like Counsell to pitch to the guy behind him, you can conclude that this is standard operating procedure. For it to happen twice in the game, shows to me that Bush is just not that good of a pitcher. Molina is not a great hitter, but he can hurt you more than Counsell can. I don't think that Bush is exclusively responsible for the loss, but he did screw the pooch.

To pile onto Ned Yost....

While I agree that it is hard to blame Yost for any one specific game, if you take a step backwards, and look at the overall performance in the COL and STL series, there is something very wrong with this team. If you look at the overall product the Brewers are trying to sell, I have a hard time not blaming Yost on that.

Technically, FTJ, Molina was hitting 7th. The pitcher was hitting 8th. Basically, yeah, Molina is that 8th hitter. To me, Bush was the least of the problems yesterday. The not getting hits and/or scoring runs was the problem. To have your starter give you 7 innings, and the other team has 3 runs, usually that means you're in the game and have a chance. For the Brewers, that means game over. Yost is Yost. Take him or leave him, he's not the one performing on the field. However, if the guys aren't performing on the field, it's his responsibility to either get them to or say to DM, we need someone different. But, who knows what is going on. I sure hope there was something said and/or done yesterday to make these guys play better this weekend.

I stand corrected --

Agreed. However, when the batter before the pitcher hits 2 HRs off you that is a problem indicative of something.

Agreed -- this is a bad time of the season to be dropping a big deuce at Miller Park -- If the Reds have their way with us like the Cards did, with the Packers starting to kick off, I think there will be a lot of lost sales and ratings.
