Didn't they bring Dillon up to cover for Prince? He was called up when they thought he hurt his arm against the Mets IIRC.

I think there's a good chance that if Bill Hall plays these next two games, he'll step up and make up for missing Prince.

I can't believe this took what... 10 days? How long did it take for Derrick Lee's suspension to not be heard at all? 3 weeks?

Ridiculous

Its funny, the Cubs fans are saying just the opposite. They are complaining that it took Lee forever to be heard so he ended up serving his without it getting reduced.

Prince had the off day yesterday. That is the reason it is quicker also not much time left in the season to mess around with. Not sure how many off days the Cubs has before Lee has his hearing.

I'll admit, I'm relieved the suspension doesn't have to be served next week. I found it pretty easy to imagine the appeal being heard on Monday's off day, and you know what would have followed that.

I suppose I can see cubs fans' beef with the fact that Derrek Lee "had to" serve his full suspension, but since it pretty conveniently gave him time to recover from the injury he had at the time, I'd call it a wash.

Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

I know this is off topic, but I don't see it being discussed anywhere else. Anyone heard any news on whether or not Sheets will pitch tomorrow?

This addresses your quesion. Just as a heads up, check out the 'sheets' tag at the top of the Major League forum.

Actually Lee's appeal was OPEN for almost a complete month. And then he gets hurt and decides to drop it. Fielder's appeal only last's about a week and is heard ASAP. And he is serving a 2 gamer without having an injury. Sorry but there is something fishy going on here.

Lee was supposed to have his appeal heard on July 2nd but MLB decided to delay it until after the all star break most likely because he ended up making the team. Then the Cubs came out of the all star break with games on 31 of the next 32 days so there wasn't a good time to schedule it. That is the major reason his appeal took so long to be heard.

Ennder not buying it. MLB can easily send someone from the front offices to meet up with said player. It was Derek Lee and the Chicago Cubs. Prince Fielder and the Milwaukee Brewers are just not going to garner that type of treatment. >:-(

I just find it funny that people say this kind of thing and meanwhile the Cubs are saying we got treated differently because Selig is commish and always favors the Brewers.

If you want to look for a conspiracy in everything you are sure to find one.

They could, but they don't. It's the player that needs to go to NYC to appeal the suspension. As a policy, MLB doesn't travel to the player in these situations no matter who the player is. The entire suspension/appeal system in MLB is a complete joke.

Just read something that said Prince did NOT have his appeal heard after all. Instead Scott Boras quote "cut a deal" with MLB to reduce the suspension. Kind of interesting. Apparently Prince was afraid if he waited until Mondays day off to have his appeal heard he would miss the Cubs series. Smart move.

Fielder appealed that suspension, allowing him to continue to play. But instead of going to a hearing on the appeal, his agent, Scott Boras, cut a deal with MLB officials to trim a game off the suspension. "We threw a proposal out there and they bit," Boras said. Boras said Bell's report said Fielder gave him a "slight bump" during their heated argument over a third-strike call and subsequent ejection. Boras said bumping an umpire usually merits a three-game suspension but he tried to convince MLB officials it was very slight, unintentional and that Fielder is a "good kid who doesn't look for trouble. I think it was clearly a two-day thing," Boras said. "We told them we won't go through a hearing if they would take a day off. Prince is not a problem kid. I think that helped."

"I figured all this time they could hear it, I surely didn't want to hear it during the biggest series of the year," Fielder said. " 'Forget it. You win. I'd rather not miss an important series like that. The team's bigger than my problems. I just want to get it out of the way."

I was just about to post what 20fry just posted. Boras negotiated a shorter suspension in return for their being no hearing. No conspiracy here.

its too bad the Brewers couldn't step up without Prince there. Hopefully next time Prince decides to go off on the ump he will think twice. Like I said before, I like the fire but you cant get yourself suspended when you're trying to win the division and make the playoffs

These two games without Prince really solidify his MVP stature. This is a different team without Prince in the line up. Even if the Crew doesn't make the playoffs, I think Fielder has a real good shot at MVP.
