Rickie was awesome tonight...4 walks? 2 Runs scored. A stolen base? That's what a leadoff man is supposed to do!

Now, I hope this series doesn't follow the script of many series we've played this year, namely: win impressively early in the series, lose a heartbreaker next, and end the series looking sloppy and sluggish See: @LAD, @ Pittsburgh, @Washington, @ Cincinnati, @Stl, vs. NYM

Just winning a road series, vs. no-matter-who, would be a positive step.

Also gotta give some props to the bullpen: 1 hit over 5 innings for that overworked group is fantastic.

I know Kevin Mench has six home runs this season, but have any been of any consequence or importance?

Yes I believe his first homerun this year was pretty important. Feel free to look it up.http://static.yuku.com/v2//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/smile.gif

I've never been a fan of Rickie, but he showed me (and Brewer nation) something tonight. Who cares if he came in hitting about .215; he did exactly what a leadoff man is supposed to do: get on base, maybe steal a bag, and score some runs.

And it's about time JJ was moved down in the order. I think my ideal lineup would have Corey 1, Rickie 2, Estrada 7, and JJ 8 at this point.

I was most impressed tonight that Rickie wasn't swinging at the pitches which were his bane all season. The Astros tried several times to throw him curves/sliders down and away and to his credit he didn't swing at them.

This was a great win to get tonight. Here's to hoping Soup can give us a strong 7 tomorrow and that we can get to Wandy.

I was at the Giants-Pirates game tonight and it was a good one, with Bonds' 758th and a squeeze play and everything, but the highlights were definitely seeing the hand-operated scoreboard put up a 4 and 5 next to the Brewers' name and then finally a F next to the score.

To quote Lou Piniella, let's not get all googly-eyed over this one. They had just 2 clutch hits all night, left all kinds of runners in scoring position with less than two outs, and despite stellar work from Linebrink, Turnbow and Cordero, the game would have been lost if Lane's 420 foot drive off of Spurling in the 10th were in any other park.

I really think Cordero should use a similar philsosiphy to tonight in the future. That fastball is so good, even on its own. It's when he goes to the slider early and it isn't working that they start expecting the fastball and hit it, like someone said earlier this week.

Good win, but still gotta' win the series.

If a couple of horribly botched ump calls would have gone the Brewers way, and a couple of hard hit balls at people would have dropped, it could have been a Brewers blowout. Generally, it evens out.

A lot of positive signs in last night's win. I liked that guys seemed to have a better approach at the plate. A lot of LOB last night, but the Astros had the same problem. Hopefully they can continue with this momentum and get another solid start from Suppan tonight.

It's all part of the master plan. We lure the Cubs in close and there fans swarm like lemmings, then when the bad luck starts they start doing silly things like think about trading for Pods when they already have better options, and wham another hurt wrenching late season choke job has been orchestrated by the Cubs for the amusement of the rest of the world.
