Success with autographs through the mail?

cweber39

All of these autographs I got were from a few years ago. None are very recent on that list, I know many have stopped signing through the mail or now charge from when I sent to them. I was very lucky to get some of the guys that I did. Hart of Milwaukee...I sent to Tiger a few years ago and it took over a year to get it back...the Tom Brady I sent an 8x10 to him when he was at Michigan and still very much an unknown but I had a good picture and I thought one day who knows he would hit it big. I think I struck gold w/that one :-)

I will get pics up of the Brady and Tiger...also my 2000 fleer Greats of the Game cards that I sent to guys

I have had decent luck with the Brewers, or at least the system. In the last 2 years I have received

Manny Parra

Brad Nelson

Matt Wise

Callix Crabbe

Derrick Turnbow

Brady Clark

Khalid Ballouli

The Brewers who I struck out with were Koskie and Eveland. I don't believe Weeks has ever signed TTM, he sells signed cards on his website. Prince and Braun used to be great signers, but I'm guessing their recent fame will end that.

Last summer I sent autograph requests to Ned Yost and all the former Brewers managers who were in organized baseball. The best signer was Tom Trebelhorn who signed my 3x5 and also included another signed photo card on his own. I also had success with Phil Garner, Buck Rodgers, Rene Lachemann, Yost, and Davey Lopes. The only nonresponse I got was from Jerry Royster. Adding those to others that I have purchased, I now have sigs of all Managers in Brewers history.

I host a charity golf outing and silent auction every year and would love to obtain more autographed memorabilia. But if you don't have a pic, is there somewhere you can get these for a reasonable price (other than a collectible shop pre-framed, etc.)?

i'd like to start asking for autos TTM, but i have no idea where to get addresses. I'd like to get Brewers, and other athletes. Can someone let me know where to send stuff? Also, when i do send out requests, do i just send out a letter, in a SASE?

For current (and sometimes former players) you can simply send a letter to the players team. The team will in turn redirect the letter appropriately.

Ryan Braun

C/O Milwaukee Brewers

1 Brewers Way

Milwaukee, WI 53214-3691

This is the most appropriate way to deal with current players for a few reasons. It shows respect for their privacy not to mention the letters can often times reach the players a bit quicker. Players often times have mail waiting for them when they return home from a road trip.

I guess this could be considered a success.....

Today I went into my mailbox and pulled out a package. Sure enough, it was a ball I sent to Ryan Braun that came back autographed on the sweet spot and said, my name, best wishes.

I am so excited it's not even funny. I sent it to him 15 days ago and the crew were on a roadtrip to Colorado and Houston for a week.

I Love Ryan Braun! Thank you so much Ryan!

Is that for real? That is pretty sweet, perhaps I will try sending my 8x10 in with a SASE and see if he will sign that for me. That would be great. And I suppose if I dont get it back Im only losing an 8x10, I could just buy one when and if he does that signing at Jeffs.

Yes, it's real...I couldn't believe I got it back either. I figured it would take him a month or so.

I went to the Post Office and bought 2 bubble mailers. One has to be bigger than the other, and you do postage for that one. The one outside goes to him, while the smaller one inside, goes to you. Just get both mailers the postage you need, and wait...

Hopefully, that makes sense.

Shipping my Braun 8x10 out tomorrow. Hope it comes back signed.

Edit: I put three stamps on the envelope that im sending the stuff in and three on the SASE for it to come back in. Is that enough postage? I would think so.

41 cent stamps? Definitely. Actually one 58 cent stamp will suffice for both if you're only sending an 8x10. But if you add cardboard or the person you're sending it to adds cardboard or something along with it then it'd probably be a safe bet to add more postage. I sent out around 30 SASE's last month to different celebrities requesting an autographed photo. I only put 58 cents postage on both envelopes. That covers just your envelopes getting there but like I said, if they send you back something along with the photo it'll probably be over two ounces, hence the need for more postage. You'll probably get it back postage due anyhow, though. I only included my own photo in three of the 30 I sent out. I've gotten two of those back already (Marco Andretti & Danica Patrick). One was fine but the other was stamped "postage due." Which was odd because both were just my 8x10 and nothing else. I didn't get the little envelope or whatever you're supposed to get though with the postage due one. So yeah, anyhow, it sounds like you're good to go.
