Well, we're promoting it in the thread title, as late word is that Will Inman will pitch on normal four days' rest Friday night in the doubleheader nightcap.

It's too bad audio doesn't archive yet on the AAA and AA level, as I'm sure there's plenty of interest in Brewers - Twins this evening, naturally. But on the minor league front, all the focus right now has to be on Huntsville's playoff push this weekend. Flip over to the nightcap audio with Brett Pollock and Bryan Neece after the Brewer game should the second game still be live.

Surely the Huntsville Times, along with David Weiser, will keep us fully updated early Saturday AM, and we'll link to them here as always.

It seems every day, we're featuring a stud starter in the previews -- Gallardo (well, y'know), Parra, Inman, Braddock (tonight), Jeffress, etc. Good times, kids, good times...

Final, Game One: Birmingham (White Sox) 4, Huntsville 2

Down 4-2 in the bottom of the 6th in this seven-inning game, the Stars had a golden chance and the right men at the plate, but no:

Huntsville Bottom 6th

- Mel Stocker singles on a line drive to center fielder Sean Smith.

- With Michael Brantley batting, Mel Stocker steals (15) 2nd base.

- Michael Brantley walks.

- Steven Sollmann out on a sacrifice bunt, pitcher Jack Egbert to second baseman Victor Mercedes. Mel Stocker to 3rd. Michael Brantley to 2nd.

- Pitcher Change: Fernando Hernandez Jr. replaces Jack Egbert.

- Lou Palmisano strikes out swinging.

- Brendan Katin pops out to second baseman Victor Mercedes

Final: West Virginia 8, Lake County (Indians) 3

West Virginia Box Score:

Details from power site shortly, but Zach Braddock's early departure puts a damper on things -- arm injury, as the game log notes; Jimmy Mojica, Steve Chapman, and John Alonso on base three times apiece, Alonso with the big first-inning three-run HR; over 5.500 in Charleston...

West Virginia Game Log:

Lake County baserunner thrown out trying to steal third base to end an 8-3 game, yeah, that's smart...

The Stars pitching sure hasn't been good tonight... unless they have a huge comeback it's a dead heat to the wire for the first half championship.

Not making an excuse -- Will didn't shine tonight, but you have to question that while he was pitching on normal rest, he was asked to basically travel via plane this AM and pitch on the same day. Corey Thurman could have been scheduled to pitch the nightcap with Will pushing Steve Hammond and Lindsay Gulin back a day.

Now it's going to be tough to get three things to go right out of four this weekend to clinch the division and avoid a Monday tiebreaker scenario. And now there's no starter, literally, for Monday if that's the case. Maybe you bring back Narron on two days rest after a very short night tonight, but I doubt it.

Some poor judgement setting things up for the weekend, in my opinion...

Final: Nashville 6, Omaha (Royals) 5, ten innings

Details from Sounds site shortly; Nashville now only 1/2 game out of first place -- no split season in the PCL...

Nashville Box Score:

Joe Dillon's walkoff was his second HR of the night...

www.minorleaguebaseball.c...a_nasaaa_1

Nashville Game Log:

Luther Hackman with a dramatic bailout of Dennis Sarfate in the 8th, but he blew the save in the 9th, leading to Dillon's extra-inning heroics...

Steve Hammond is still one of the Brewers' better prospects... they wouldn't push him back for Will Inman. And if Inman had a problem with an airplane flight on his starting pitching day, he will have to iron out a lot of things by the time he makes it to the bigs.

I am much less concerned with Inman having a bad outing than Inman having a healthy AA debut. The Stars don't win the Southern League because of Will Inman starting today... who cares? Will Inman started today.
