Is it time to DL Wise and Villy?

Villy with an 86 MPH fastball the other day. Wise has been a mess his last few outings out, neither one of these guys look right. Should we DL them both? If so, who replaces them. If they are having issues, why wasn't a move made before we DFA'ed Dessens?

so no, now that thatcher and balfour are gone, i doubt we'll see any callups in the near future...and if we do, it'll be because someone has completely lost it...

Villaneuva still has more good games than bad ones so I dont' really see a reason to DL him.

 

Wise is a more interesting case but thats really for Yost and Maddux to judge. There is no way a fan knows what is going on with a mental issue like he is having.

The problem is that once you DL them thats it for 15 days. Now Villy can be optioned down though it would be costly use of an option but he may never end up using them all anyway.

Villy is fine, he just needs a few days off. Personally i think we should throw Para in his spot to eat up innings instead, maybe even Leinbrink if we need someone for two. As for wise, i think DL'ing him would just make things worse. Why not just send him down to triple a, and if he still doesn't have it maybe even double just to let him slowly rebuild his confidence.

Not to mention if he got flat out sent down to AAA it would do even further mental damage. Weeks is a different scenario as he needs to just relax his approach and use the tools he knows he has. Wiser on the other hand has to take a mental vacation and learn to trust his stuff again.
