Soriano hurt

Ennder

I have heard how Cub Fans are rude. Lets show some class here Brewer fans. I was watching when Soriano came up lame going to 3rd base. My first reaction was bad news for the Cubs. That is part of the game, injuries.

My point.....Lets not lower ourselves to those immature comments that we all complain about from overzealous Cub fans.

SHOW SOME CLASS.

I cant say I am anything but happy about this news. I dont specifically root for injuries but as long as the injury isnt career or life threatening I see no reason why we shouldnt be happy. Do any of you think the Cubs fans were anything but thrilled when Sheets got hurt? Therefore I say lets be happy and hope this helps the Brewers take the division.

What disguise?

Exactly. This very transparently helps the Brewers. I hate injuries to any star player -- because at the end of the day as a fan, I'd rather watch a guy like Soriano for 9 innings than Matt Murton.

I think if there is in anything in disguise, it may push the Cubs into paying a little more for an August deal (Dunn, Jr.)

First off, we should not celebrate the injury of another human being. That is just plain wrong. I don't care if Cubs fans rejoice every time a Brewer goes down: Two wrongs don't make a right.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I'd rather see the Crew win the division without any free passes (ex: injuries & weak divisional foes).

Personally, I give a rat's behind how they Brewers win the division - so long as they do it. We've had injuries too. It all tends to even out.

Hammys can be weird.

I really don't feel guilty for not feeling for soriano. Fact is, the injury helps the Brewers win the division, which is what I want to see.

If Urlacher and Devin Hester both had season enders tomorrow I would be devastated. I don't root for injuries, but if one happens to a division rival I don't feign sadness.

If Hester were gone for a season, Da Bears are gone for a season. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif

I admit, I love watching Hester return. You just know that he's gonna break one. It's just a matter of when.

I think I'd rather have both Sheets and Soriano healthy thatn both on the DL. Sheets loss hurts us as much if not more than Soriano's loss helps us. In the end it doesn't matter how the Cubs play. It's the Brewers play that has to improve.

After all the comments from Cubdom after the Sheets injury, and the wishes by some of them that Braun might rip a muscle from the bone, it's hard not to feel just a tingle of Schadenfraude.

...but, hey, when you put that karma out into the universe...

I don't like when stars or big time players get hurt. I, like FTJ like to watch them play. However injuries are part of the game. Every team has a big time or key player go down at some point through the year. We had sheets go down and cubs fans went crazy happy over it. Now they have Soriano go down, I'm not going to jump up and down with joy over it, but I'm also not going to say I'm sad over it.

This is probably good news for the Brewers, but I was looking forward to both the Brewers and the Cubs having fully-healthy teams for the stretch run. If the Brewers go on a run during Soriano's injury and the Cubs fade, it would give Cub fans room to say something like "Well, if we had Soriano, we would've beaten the Brewers down the stretch." On the other side of the coin, if the Brewers fall out of contention while Sheets is out and the Cubs play .750 ball for another two months, there will probably be a lot of Brewer fans saying something like "Well, if we had Sheets, we would've beaten the Cubs down the stretch." I really would have liked to see both teams stay healthy, because that would've been a fun race to watch if you ask me.

Although there would be the potential for a fun race, I'd find just as much fun and excitement in watching the Cubs fall apart because of an injury and watch the Brewers surge.

Not sure if anyone else saw, but the Cubs didn't make the obvious move and call up Pie. Instead....it's Corey Patterson's little brother Eric. That can't bode well for their confidence in their top prospect. It does mean an outfield of Floyd, Jones, Murton for the next month.

My son did this in a game last summer, even with the healing powers of a 15-year-old, he couldn't really break loose and run for two weeks, and wasn't totally healed for a month.

I can also say the same exact thing. I was running high school track and had the same thing happen. I wasn't able to run even close to full speed for more than a month and when I was finally able to compete again I would run my race (400m sprint) and immediately go to the trainer and have it worked on and wouldn't be able to run again for a few days. Trying to use it just prolongs the healing time in quad injuries. If he is fielding balls any sooner than 3 weeks I would be surprised and in that case I would try to hit everything to left.

I'm in Chicago every weekend (my dad and inlaws are still there in the burbs), and living in Kenosha now, I get ESPN1000 out of Chicago far better than I can pick up 1250 or 1510 out of Milwaukee. I *think* they are more worried about using up Pie's options than they are lacking confidence in his ability to perform. I know Harry of Mac/Jurko/Harry (afternoon drive out of Chicago), a make-you-sick-to-your-stomach Cubs homer is beside himself that they have left Pie in the minors so long as it is, I fully expect him to blow several capillaries (or, please God, an aorta) on today's show. It's quite entertaining if you can keep from throwin up in your mouth when he calls the sCrubs the "Team of Destiny" 37 times an hour. Luckily, Mac is a Sox fan, so he puts plenty of holes in the sCrubs balloons.

That's not it. The Cubs have already used one of Pie's options this year. Pie isn't being brought up because Soriano plays LF and they already have several options with Murton, Floyd, Pagan, and DeRosa. Eric Patterson is no slouch as a prospect either.

If the Cubs falter and fall several games behind us, many fair weather fans will point to this as the cause. Personally, i think it will hurt them a lot, especially if he is out the full month. Am i happy he is out? No, i would rather leave them in our wake with no excuses by cubs fans.

It will hurt them no doubt, but I really don't think it will cost them five games or anything. At most a game or two (and that may be a stretch).....but in a pennant race that could be huge.

Who cares if Cubs fans point to Soriano's injury as the root cause if they fail to surpass the Crew? Couldn't we point out that Sheets has been on the DL twice this season? And besides, a title is a title as others have already said.

Injuries are a part of the game...it's just somewhat scary the way he got hurt. That could happen to anyone. And it's not like he's out for the season, so we'll just have to wait and see how productive he is when he comes back (assuming he does). It may hamper him and it may not. We'll see.

The funniest thing I read on the "Inside the Ivy" boards about this injury went something like this, "Hopefully Pie can come up for the third time now, and figure it out and be our Ryan Braun now." I had to laugh at that one.

With that said, it is a tough break to lose Soriano, but I know many Cubs fans who celebrated being in first place when Ben Sheets went on the DL. I say win often and bury them now!!! It is really a critical juncture in the season now. We have to start winning on the road beginning with this road trip. Then it gets tougher during that 9 gamer at the end of the month that goes through the "Friendly Dump" on the north side of Chicago.
