I'm watching the game on Directv. . .

I was very surprised that the San Diego fans were cheering as much as they were. He really got quite an ovation.

It's a historic moment, and the crowd was pretty excited. Plus, the guy who caught the ball actually appears to have been unharmed by his section.

San Diego fans represented themselves pretty well tonight.

Bud looked sad. Although I'm sure he knew it was inevitable, he felt for his friend Hank.

The only good that has come from this thing is all the people rehashing Henry Aaron, and finally giving Hank his due. With all due respect to Ruth, Williams, Mays, etc., Hank Aaron is the best ever. If he would have played in NYC, he not Mays would be the first name off of everyone's tongue when talking about the best ever. I thank Bonds for bringing Hank back in the spotlight.

WEAK! I was definitely in first http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

Congratulations Mr. Bonds.

Its a shame that his and A-Rod's came on the same day as this awesome Brewer's game. So much for any coverage on sportscenter.

This makes me angry...I really do hate Barry Bonds...He is a disgrace to the game and he is ruining and breaking the most sacred record in sports. http://static.yuku.com/v2//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/mad.gif

I think you underestimate how many fans he has. You would be surprised. He doesn't get voted an All-Star starter every season just because of his hometown fans.

Only one more to go before he can finally go away. I've really grown apathetic about this whole thing, as have quite a few people I know, which is probably the saddest thing about the whole ordeal...not Bonds being "dirty" or anything like that.

I happened upon the game by accident right as he came to the plate. After the first couple of AB's, I was thinking back to the night when McGwire set the new record. I recall vividly how I was on the edge of my seat, and when he hit it, how all the hairs on the back of my neck stood up. And how exciting it was when he hugged everyone and their grandma, and how players on the other team shook his hand as he went around.

Fast forward to tonight, and I had no excitement at all during the AB, not a thing when he hit it, and even less after he crossed the plate. I couldn't (and still can't) tell if this is one of the games I will remember and tell me grandkids about or not. The difference between my reaction tonight and back when McGwire and Sosa were chasing a record is like night and day. And that's what's so sad about it. We should all be giddy and excited that we were alive when these guys played, just like when the "old-timers" talk about Aaron and Maris and Joe D. and so on. And yet, what's the legacy that we'll all remember? Cheaters.

What a drag. At least I can take some solace in the knowing (or hoping) that Bonds' records won't last long.

yeah, a few innings later in the game a line shot was hit over Barry's head as he made a leaping effort for the ball. I was cursing that he didn't tear an ACL or something when he hit the ground.

Barry may hold the record, but he's no HR King.

Way to hustle out of the box for your first row HR! Quite a bit different from when you were pounding them. Now fewer and much much shorter! Hmmmmmm. You should have paid taxes on your card signings when you go and use that money to buy your girl friend a condo!

Congratulations to one of the best hitters to ever play the game.

Ditto. I would've loved to have seen Aaraon hold on to the record much longer but he had a good run. The level of vitriol towards Bonds never fails to slightly shock me.

Like everyone else I'll be glad when it's over, though.

Oh well...it was inevitable, I guess. At least A-Rod, Pujols and a few others have shots of breaking the record as long as they stay healthy. I guess my thing with Bonds is more than whether or not he's clean or not, but that the guy is a total jerk! He doesn't care about anyone else! Total opposite of Hammerin' Hank.

Im not a Bonds fan, and Im not here to debate if he did or didn't do steroids, cause its pretty obvious. But I will say that dude is one of the greatest hitters ever. Before he ever got big and had the spike in HR's he was already a HOF. And that is the truth.

As for that pictures that sweepscc posted, that one doesn't bother me as much as looking at a pciture of Bonds from 1998 and then one from 2000. That is where the difference comes in.

How about the fact that he hit 755 off of a player who was suspended (in the minors) two years ago for steroids?
