Jenkins Trade Rumor

I know someone who went to yesterday's game, and wanted to buy a Jenkins jersey. The vendor said they weren't carrying them anymore because they thought he was going to be traded. I don't know how those things work, but I found it interesting that they pulled his jersey. Take this for what it's worth...speculation.

Interesting, but wouldn't the fact that he was about to be traded make them more desperate to unload his jerseys? At least, that's how most places that sell jerseys seem to act. I've been at stores where jerseys of a guy who was traded weeks before are still being sold for full price.

JoeHova, the Fan Fair at Southridge is selling Carlos Lee Brewers' jersey's for the "clearance" price of $55. They also were selling Brady Clark Brewers' jerseys for the same "clearance" price. I don't know whether people are stupid enough to buy Lee jerseys when he was traded LAST year or if Fan Fair among others are stupid enough to continue attempting to sell the jerseys. Selling those jerseys for that obscene price is like a used car salesman trying to sell their car even though it hasn't had an oil change in 30,000 miles or hasn't gotten new tires after 100,000 miles.

Heck when I was in Cleveland a few years ago, they were selling Tim Couch jerseys even after he was released from the team for a clearance price of 10 bucks, which seemed more reasonable than the price of Fan Fair's jerseys. I also remember seeing at the Southridge JC Penney's that they were selling Corey Koskie for the full sale price.

Well, technically Koskie is still on the team...

The thing to keep in mind is that malls generally aren't a place to get a great deal on anything. The rent those stores pay is pretty crazy, plus paying lots of employees, overhead costs, etc. They probably can't discount those jerseys anymore without losing money, as stupid as that sounds.

They'd seem more likely to have slowed down orders of all players who could possibly be traded so they wouldn't be left with a surplus. That way, you're not sitting there on September 1, 2006 with thousands of dollars worth of Carlos Lee merchandise. This may be an example of the telephone game where someone said "the shirts of guys with expiring contracts who may be traded will not be ordered until later on", which turned into "Jenkins shirts won't be ordered because he is a possible trade chip", which turned into "Jenkins will be traded so his shirts are gone".

Was at the game last Sunday and they were available in the store. Speaking of jerseys at Miller Park though, why is it so hard to find a Braun or Gallardo one? You would think they would mass produce them while they are in so much demand as opposed to saying well as soon as we put them on the shelf they are gone. I was lucky to get a Braun one that they did just put out but they should have a ton of each.

Well, Braun and Gallardo are probably two of the most popular players on the team right now (Braun especially...I know I want a Braun replica jersey myself). Makes sense that they would be hot sellers right now.

Any Joe Dillon jerseys out there yet? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
