Hart vs. Soriano

I was perusing some stats today and noticed just how similar Hart and Alphonso Soriano have been this year.

Hart .283/.350/.520 18HR 48RBI 16/20 SB

Soriano .302/.341/.521 18HR 42RBI 18/23 SB (in about 100 more ABs)

Before today's game, they had nearly identical OPSsssss.

I had no idea Corey was nearly a top ten OF in the NL this season. He continues to impress me. I think his ceiling is very high.

Hart has impressed me more then any Brewer this season. As good as Braun has been, I think Hart's season has been even more impressive. The guy was benched and had an injury but came back from it to put up great numbers. With the off year Hall has had, where would our OF production be if Hart had not produced as he has? It would be rough. I think his ceiling is still very high and could be a future 30/30 guy. Still has a great chance at 20/20 this year, which is nice. Its no wonder why Corey got all the awards in the minor's while the other kids got all the pub.

I've always been a huge Hart fan and could never understand the minority here who thought he'd never amount to anything. I and several others went so far as to say he'd have a good shot at replacing Carlos Lee's numbers. So far this season, He trails Lee's OPS .873 to .870 - a huge gap. Plus he actually plays defense and runs very well.

I love his defense and the fact he can run. That along with the power makes him a very very good player.

He certainly has overcome that elbow problem. http://static.yuku.com/v2//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/laugh.gif

Hart is probably my favorite player. I love the way he plays, hitting for power and contact, good speed, and solid D. I was trying to defend him to some of my friends who proclaimed Gwynn Jr. was ROY and was waaaaay better than Hart who supposedly stunk becuase of a months worth of sub-par BA. He definitely is right there with Soriano, arguably better, and is millions of dollars cheaper. (for the time being)

Has anyone ever noticed the card he keeps in his back pocket with the defensive alignments? When I was at Wrigley in the bleachers (don't ask), someone was getting on him, telling to "check the card" and that the "card was wrong".

Nice, Corey is totally justifying a lot of people's faith in him. I admit that I wasn't the biggest Corey fan at first (I questioned whether his approach would transfer to MLB), but he has gotten on-base at a much better rate than I thought he would. Combine that with his power and speed and he's a heck of a player.
