If Yost were to be fired after the season, whom would you choose as a replacement?

Is there anyway Ned just doesn't get his players attention anymore? I don't think a manager can win a division on his own, but if the players are tuning Yost out they're going to need some fresh blood.

I'd also prefer a manager with a track record just for the sake that we haven't had that in Milwaukee in a long time.

Yeah, if Ned were to get replaced after this season, I'd prefer someone with playoff experience, and hopefully a winning record. I know that doesn't mean the Brewers would automatically get to the post-season, but someone who comes in expecting to win could give this team a kick in the pants, possibly.

I thought this appropriate for this thread.

Feel free to add any qualifications you see fit. http://static.yuku.com/v2//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/wink.gif

I have been a huge Yost supporter since day 1. But I to am starting to think we may need a change. This is the 3 or 4 year in a row that we have just not got it done in the 2nd half. Something needs to change. You can only take and see these collapses so often before you need to blame someone. And its sad, but that someone is Ned Yost. I dunno who should take over, but someone that can get these guys to win in the 2nd half. If that is possible.

Bobby Valentine is exactly the fiery type of leader that this team needs.

Valentine is also a strategic genius when it comes to in-game strategy. I also want an outsider who has no loyalty or attachment to anyone. Someone who can take an honest look at things and be able to see the flaws in the team.

By the way, did anyone listen to WSSP this morning? I don't know if this came up already, but they made an interesting comment. The Brewers have never hired an experienced manager other than Rene Lachemann. It's been mostly rookie managers with no proven track record.

Maybe this organization needs a serious change in philosophy.

I am really getting to the point to jump on the fire NED bandwagon.
Once again, this is a Ned replacement thread. Check the designated threads list and the 'yost' tag for threads to evaluate his job performance.

I've made this point before -- however as stated it is not entirely accurate -- Dave Bristol managed the Reds before the Brewers

I'm going to re-open this, but please keep all this in mind.

I dont want this thread to turn into a debate whether or not Yost should be fired.
Reading the original post' date=' this isn't s'posed to be a debate about fired or not.... It's supposed to be about a replacement.[/quote']
Let's keep in mind that this isn't a "should Yost get fired' date=' extended, rewarded with a lifetime contract", etc. The original poster just asked who would replace him IF he were not here next year. Let's try to keep to that question.[/quote']
Hey' date=' gang. One more time. Let's keep this thread focused on Yost replacements rather than the legitimacy of him keeping his job. "Who kidnapped Ned Yost?" is available to discuss his job performance.

Thanks! [img']http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif[/img]

IF Ned goes, I'd want them to take a long hard look at Girardi - just to tick off Cub fans.

One of the reasons why I'm not exactly in the "Fire Ned!" bandwagon is because I don't really think there would be many good candidates available for the Brewers. I have a fear that if the Brewers were to go ahead and do the deed that we'd find out that the Brewers gig still isn't all that desirable (which is probably why they've had to resort to hiring new guys) and we'd get stuck with another team's bench coach or something. Maybe that's just my paranoid side starting to show, though. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

I'd hope that the new guy would have some idea how to use splits to the team's advantage instead of just going on gut feeling. The guy doesn't have to be a sabermetric genius, but I would prefer if he wasn't using guys who aren't pitchers to sac bunt unless he absolutely had to. I'd like it if he would encourage guys to work the count a little more, even if it means *gasp* striking out sometimes -- if you don't walk, you don't play (here's looking at you, Mench and Estrada). Better bullpen management would also be nice, but a guy can only do so much with what he's given in the bullpen.

Who does that philosophy apply to? I have no idea. I think if someone like that existed they'd already be employed and they'd already be getting paid very well. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif The only thing I'd really ask is that the theoretical new manager isn't crazy about giving away free outs.
