I know this has been beat to death: Should Bush and Vargas be replaced with Yo and Parra?

There's no way they would give either pitcher that many innings, especially Parra. However, I think many would agree that one or both of them will be in the rotation next year.

I would say, however, if you think a topic's been beat to death, then there's really not point of starting a thread about it. Also, please make sure that the subject line reflects the topic of the post, and is not simply just a "teaser".

I think you have a short leash with vargas his next couple starts and if he has more starts like last night you cant have him pitching down the stretch. I know he was coming off his best performance but i think that start was somewhat of a fluke. He didnt walk anyone that night and that is not like him at all. So i would say give him a couple starts. You have Parra keep his innings down the next couple weeks and then pitch if needed down the stretch.

As for Bush there is no way you pull him. He is pitching well right now.

The 3 most likely pitchers to replace would be Suppan, Cappy, and Vargas.

edit. Suppan's no trade clause makes that difficult.

A team is wowed by his 5.0 ERA and Suppan waives his no trade clause?

Hence my edit to complete my thought...

Like I have said in the past, if Suppan plays up to expectations we don't want to trade him and if he doesn't we can't trade him.

Fan is short for fanatic.

I blame Wang.

limiting his (Yo's) innings is not an option anymore. Anyone who thinks otherwise is going to be in for a big surprise.

Not a lot of what is going to happen in August/September can be predicted by BFnet, but if there is one thing that we can be

assured of, is that Yo and Parra will have a limitation on their innings -- you can bank on that.

I think during the offseason we may want to look at that, but really I like going with veterans in a pennant race, that we are still in. Vargas has one bad start and people want him replaced. Bush and Capuano has been better of late. Suppan always brings it towards the end of the year. Let them do their thing, parra could be a very useful long man for the rest of the year.

If anyone should be replaced its Vargas but I don't see it happening. We don't want extra innings on the young arms, that is exactly why we signed Suppan in the first place, to not have to overwork/rush the young guys.

Ive pointed this out a few times, looking at Suppans K/9, K/BB, BB/9, HR/9 and DIPS he is pitching exactly like we should expected. The brewers defense is worse than St. Louis, and the result is this 5.0 ERA. There may or may not be more in the link in my sig, a few posts down.

I think it's because he's cheap, durable, decent, and has shown signs of improving as seen in this VERY thread... Its up about 6 posts, but Ill spell it out for you...

Dave Bush's last 12 games- 64 IP, 17 BB, 49 K, 3.66 ERA, .710 OPS against.

How could Yo replace either. He is a member of the rotation and unless we fall out the race limiting his innings is not an option anymore. Anyone who thinks otherwise is going to be in for a big surprise.

He is still on a limit; this being being in a race hasn't changed that. The Sheets injury simply means that rather than limiting his innings in July and August and moving him back into the rotation in September, they'll be limited in September and October if necessary.

It looks like Parra's limit is going to be about 150. Manny has thrown 121.1 innings so far, so that leaves him about 30 or so innings for the remainder of the year, or 5 six inning starts. Or 4 seven inning starts.
