New York Mets (60 - 47)

Brian Lawrence RHP (0-0,0.00/0.00 - 07' MLB Debut)

Jorge Sosa was originally slated to start this one, but he was used in relief against the Brewers on Tuesday night. Lawrence, who the Mets signed to a Minor League contract on May 9, gets the nod instead. The 31-year-old was 8-2 with a 3.87 ERA in 12 starts (79 innings) for Triple-A New Orleans and is seemingly recovered from the shoulder surgery he underwent in March 2006.

The Brewers have lost each of Capuano's last 12 starts but he has been pitching better of late. Two walks loomed large in a three-run Cardinals first inning in Capuano's most recent start, when he was charged with four runs in 6 1/3 innings. But he has a 2.95 ERA over his last three starts (seven earned runs in 21 1/3 innings).

Pitcher with a repaired arm/shoulder can't throw harder than mid 80s anymore, making his first big league start since 2005. Man. That sounds familar. I hope Lawrence doesn't go Tim Redding on the Crew.

Capuano has shown signs of breaking through. Let's make it happen today.

It would be really, really nice to get a series win today. Hopefully Capuano can pitch a good game and our offense can show up against Lawrence.

Dear Brewers Bats,

Chris "Segway" Capuano has pitched very well his past few outings. I know you and Chris have had your issues, but your attendance at todays games would be greatly appreciated.

Lovingly Yours,

Sgt

I smell a "forfeit" lineup today. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif

BrewCrew, the day after the Hall walk-off game when all of the pictures came out I got 3 I liked, cropped them to 100x100 and made a .gif in photoshop and imageready. It was actually one of the first .gif's I ever made, so I was fairly proud of it. I'd been using it for livejournal, but when I saw this board used 100x100 for avatars I knew I had to use it here too. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

I figured out how to "sticky" this thread and "unstick" Wednesday's IGT - hawing 1, yuku...well, more than zero, but it's a start. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

Go Segway and team.
Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

Let's go Brewers.

I got the day off of work today so that I could get some things done around town. So don't disappoint me by taking a deuce today.

By the way, I like the new format. I've been gone for a few days, and when I clicked on the Brewerfan link the site looked.. a little bit different to say the least. But I'm a fan. Plus I like this guy. http://static.yuku.com/v2//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/pimp.gif

The fact that Lawrence is making his first start and can't throw higher than the mid-80's scares me. The Brewers seem to have a knack for not showing up to games when they go up against a pitcher that is sub-par.

As for the JV line-up, I think Yost is going to start putting out better line-ups and stop going with the "I have to play everyone to keep them all sharp" mentality. It's now time to put the best line-up out there everyday or we have no chance of finishing this thing out in a pennant race.

Well this is probably our best line-up against a righty.

It's been a while since our last day game during the week with a lineup that didn't have counsell, graffy, and one or two more "weekday-day starters".

I'm not surprised though. Yost may be finally gettig a sense of urgency. Theres no reason to rest starters for the stretch run anymore - this is the stretch run.

Go Crew! (and Phils)
