WOW. just WOW.

I was trying to watch the end of the game, but passed out after 13 or so. Made my day.

Holy shish.

What a fun season this has been even with all of frustrating aspects.

Anyone else find Sheets strangely attractive. I think I'm in love. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

I almost literally burst out sobbing at the Pods double, and then again after the last out. Not like for joy, but like I'd just had a near-death experience. Starting the 13th inning I was telling myself, it's just a meaningless baseball game! Any minute now my wife's gonna wake up and wish I were in bed with her. Why the hell am I watching this?

bernieh, my wife woke up to go to the bathroom at 1:30 AM to find me transfixed in front of the computer. She already thinks I'm nuts, but thank goodness she was too tired to do much but shrug. I told a fib this morning that I had fallen asleep between 10:00 and 1:00 to wake up and find the game on. Of course, it was 2:55 when I crawled into bed after the game.

Now the real test for everyone is tonight's game for those who don't nap today http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif .

A click of the mouse to all of you who stuck it out - maybe especially MassBrew. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

I turned off the radio once Viz took the mound, hoping my faith wasn't misplaced. I think I dreamed about the Brewers overnight, though. I woke up at 5:00, earlier than usual, and immediately had to to turn on the radio to catch the sports. Boy, it's nice to wake up to good news. Then I was able to sleep better.

Let's hope this game is pivotal for a good reason. Maybe the bats wake up? Bullpen keeps up its Supermen status? Ben remains the man? Wow.

Brian, please archive this thread. This is at least as significant as WHOA SOLVDD.

Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

We might not see a run til around the 15th inning the way these offenses are going. And I gotta get up at 4:20 in the morning, so lets please not play any more extra inning west coast games.

This was RoCo's quote at 10:22 pm. The Brewers were still in the 6th inning.

RoCo - got any stock tips?

damm sheets pitches a full 9 and gives up one hit and still can"t get a win that was terrible.

the brewers better find some kind of offense and soon.

but will gladly take the win

That must have been the perfect game for the S&M lover! Ben has ANOTHER fantastic outing, and that hit by Vlad, he must have been useing a 1 iron to get to that one. Sheets is establishing himself as one of the premier pitchers in the game. It must have been a pleasure to watch Sheets last night. Now, the pain part! 26 K's! 6 for Jenkins! 5 for Greive and 4 a piece for Overbay and Ginter! OMG! Geoff needs a couple of days "rest" and Overbay, to take a line from a SpongeBob episode " stay away from that squirrel or you might catch it's stupid"! And that Ginter bandwagon is losing passengers fast I bet! What is with 3 errors by Spivey? Where they hard plays to make or did he revert back to his days in T-Ball. That must have been an ulcer inducing game.

This game has to be one of the finest team pitching performances in Brewers history if not NL history. WOAH SOLVDD would be proud of this thread. This thread could be one of the best posting performances too. Let's give ourselves a pat on the back and a raise the beers in salute.

Who would have thought Kinney would have got the win and his Angels counterpart Ortiz would get the loss?

I, too, commend those that lasted until the very end. I had a few too many after softball and passed out listening to the game on the radio. God Bless you all.

I had been out of the country for work, so when the third inning ended I was dead tired and went to sleep. Well I woke up about 2 hours later and just HAD to look at the score. When I saw 0-0 in the 11th through my fuzzy eyes I thought I was dreaming. I watched until the 13th and HAD to turn it off. Of course I woke up 10 minutes later and HAD to turn it back on http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif I stayed up for the end and I'm glad I did!

Another late start tonight though. I couldn't POSSIBLY stay up for this one..... ; )

This thread ruled. I'm dragging today, but I'm a knuckle-ball poster so I'll be good to go for tonight.

We should get some cash from the WI Dairy Council 'cause I think this thread prompted people to eat a bunch of cheese sandwiches.

Nice job, fellas.

Somebody probably has done this already, but I haven't found it. What's the record for longest game in which a team was shut out? When's the last time a staff shut down a team for more than 17 innings?

As for Jenkins, he was showing signs of breaking out over the past few games. Last night was epic badness, but it may turn out to be a bump on the road to recovery. I believe he's better than this, so I hesitate to discount the good signs he's shown over the past week, before last night.

From The Sporting News:

Quote:
Astros beat Mets in 24 (April 15, 1968)

The Astros beat the Mets 1-0 in 24 innings in one of baseball's longest games. With the bases loaded and one out in the 24th inning, Bob Aspromonte hit a groundball that went through the legs of Mets shortstop Al Weis for an error that scored Norm Miller. Weis was filling in for Buddy Harrelson, the Mets regular shortstop, who was out with a sore arm. The game still is the longest 1-0 game in history and last six hours and six minutes. Tom Seaver started for the Mets and Don Wilson for the Astros. Each team had 79 at-bats and 11 hits.

That's the record.

Posted by batman: Geoff Jenkins almost killed someone in the stands and then he almost killed Podsednik with his bat.

Not a promising start.

This gets my vote for "best foreshadowing in a post" as this was written at 9:10pm Central last night.

All you weenies on Central Time need to stay up one hour after this game to prove you're a real man like East Coast MassBrew.

I watched Apocalypse Now Redux after the game (which may have been a mistake) so I'm a real man, right?
