The Reds have done pretty well with ex-A's so far. Both Lidle and Harang have pitched very well for them. It's early, but it does look like a good deal of Lidle's struggles last year were due to injury.

It would be nice for the Crew to beat up on the Reds the next couple of days. Davis should keep us in it tonight. As for tomorrow... who knows.

All I know is the Crew is 3-0 in games I've gone to so far, and I don't know know the last time I could make that claim!

I'd imagine that this injury might bring Cincy back to the bottom where they belong...

Yeah I guess timely hitting and decent pitching are the signs of a last place team. I wished the Brewers looked that bad, but I guess I'll have to settle for timely hitting.

Austin Kearns has a broken forearm and is out indefinitely.

I'd imagine that this injury might bring Cincy back to the bottom where they belong...

Kearns was hitting only .137 with 2 HR and a .623 OPS before the injury. Its fair to say he has had little to do with their success.

Quite simply, the Reds are just creating more scoring opportunities than their pitchers are allowing to their opponents. Reds hitters have a .352 OBP, opponents .334. The Reds have drawn over 30 walks more than their opponents; only 20 or so games into the season, that is quite a difference already. It cant get any more basic; more baserunners = more runs.

Likewise, there is also one other stat I really like, and it really shows the mentality the Reds have under Chris Chambliss. By my calculations, 22% of all the Reds plate appearances thus far have resulted in a 3-ball count. The Reds take their pitches, take their walks, and get ahead in the count.

Are the Brewers closer to a 10-10 team or are the Reds closer to a 12-7 team??

I'd say the Reds are playing over their heads and their pitching should come back down to Earth soon...but then again, the Brewers have been playing over their heads as well...even if it is just a little bit.

How have the Reds been doing it? Has it been as simple as taking more walks than the pitchers are giving up?? I hope the Brewers can work some counts today and give themselves a chance to score a lot of runs. Cincy seems to have a decent lineup...but Casey seems to be playing way above expectations.

I hope DD can silent the bats.

The Brewers seem like their media notes are always one of the last couple updated everyday. I wonder if that bothers the writers? Perhaps they get their copies before they go online, but ya' never know.

Anyway, I just wanted to add that the Reds are apparently not going to make a roster move before tonight's game and so they are down a bench player. Kearns is going to be re-evaluated today but I can't anticipate him not going on the DL.

Your starting RF tonight, Keith Ginter.

Ginter gets his first start in right... should be interesting. Once again, however, Nedley demonstrates his utter refusal to make lineup changes - the rightfielder MUST BAT SEVENTH!!!

I read he was fitted with a cast already so there's no way they don't DL him.

Best lineup we have featured so far. I hope Keith can get some hits and not embarass himself out there. Will he get taken out in the 7th or 8th for Brady Clark? I'd like to see keith become the almost every day RF.

Agreed, burnie... It's pretty strange that they decided not to recall someone for tonight's game. It probably won't make any difference, but there's a chance that not having a twenty-fifth man will come back to haunt them.
