I don't mean to speak for John but I think its pretty clear he said through 6, through the time Wes should have been in there. That's 4 runs in 6 innings. He was sent out in the 7th because Ned was trying to draw to an inside straight due to a shortage in the bullpen. Wes kept the Brewers in the game and to that extent the performance was acceptable to me also. John didn't make any reference to Wes' prior performances or season ERA, he was referring to last night nights performance.

Acceptable isn't a very strong endorsement and doesn't necessarily even mean OK, it just kept the Brewers in the game. And I don't think it's sad Brewer fans with a realistic understanding of where the Brewers are in the rebuilding process accept this. These things were expected going into the season. Sure it's frustrating and noone will be happy with it long term, but this year it's to be expected.
