5/22/2004 - Brewers (Sheets) @ Pirates (Fogg)

Counsell should have been out on the bunt that hit him, so I can't complain too much about the step toward second.

can't say for sure, cause it appeared his feet were in foul ground, hence foul ball.

Boy, Pirates just are being aggressive up there

Man, this game has been frustrating as hell to watch.

No kidding. I've really been looking forward all week to finally having TV again, but this has been one of the most painful games to watch so far this season.

Remember how we used to own the Marlins when we first went to the NL? I guess that's how Pitt looks at us.

0-4 vs. Pitt this year. That SUCKS. Even if we'd split......http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/mad.gif

Frustrating

Sheet's didn't have his good stuff today, but he was still able to give us the opportunity to win. And we couldn't get to Fogg. Granted, he did have a good performance, but this is a game the Brewers must win if they want to float around above .500.

One of the more annoying losses of the season. The Pirates scored on a bunch of weekly hit infield groundouts. The Brewers managed to hit into double plays whenever they needed a big hit. A ball down the line goes foul at the last second. Counsell gets called out for rounding the base. Overbay loses the ball while tagging a guy. And finally, everyone seems to ground out weekly to second.

Ugh !!

It's confusing why Ben Sheets always dominates Houston but finds ways to lose to Pittsburgh. Not that the loss was his fault, but it just seems we don't match up well with teams that single you to death.

Oh yeah . . . did I mention how painful it is to see Brady Clark hit lately?

The Brewers and the Pirates are very similar teams. They have nearly the same run differential. The Pirates have decent pitching, while the Brewers have decent hitting. So there is no reason to believe the Brewers can just walk all over them (no matter what Jim Powell thinks). You have two teams playing about .500 baseball. Both teams are lucky in teh sense that both Houston and Chicago have been underperforming (and unlucky since to make that up the Reds have been seriously overperforming).

JP never said that. Rather, he has been saying that in order to remain near .500, the Brewers need to play well against teams like the Expos and especially the Pirates. We're not going to beat up on the Astros or Cubs or even Cardinals, so we have to win a lot of games against the Pirates and Reds if we are going to stay at or near .500.

Stop hating on JP,
