Well they won, but I still think it was a dumb move to have one of your better hitters bunt with a man on second and no outs. Nice bunt though.

I'm not as big of a fan as you #6 hitter bunting as I am your #2 hitter, but even if that ball wasn't thrown away we would have had runners at 2nd & 3rd with 1 out. Again, when you're playing for 1 run, there's nothing wrong with that. If allowed to hit, Ginter could has just as easily hit into a double play, leaving a man at 3rd with 2 out.

That was a monumentally sweet bunt. I don't agree with the call, but it worked.

Not pretty, but I'll take it!

EDIT: Just to explain why I don't agree with the bunt call, we didn't have anyone left on the bench except Bennett (who hits like a pitcher, and probably wouldn't have been used anyway). I'd rather have Ginter and Moeller each get shots to drive in the run than Moeller and Kinney.

Credit to the bullpen for that win with 5 innings of no hit ball. Yeah it is better to be lucky than good otherwise we wouldn't be 2 games over 500 http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

Well what can you say? Jenkins really came up in the clutch tonight in getting on base, and making two really nice defensive plays tonight.

The pitching has been really impressive over the last week, unfortunately the offense is in a slump when the pitching is so strong.

Good overall "baseball" game.

EDIT: Hopefully Jenkins will be a web gem tonight. He really got ripped last night. Nice plug on the game in the Diamondbacks/Giants broadcast. Mentioning once again that Jenks looks like Brett Favre.

Helps we faced the Dodgers

Without S.Green hitting, that lineup they put out is really really bad.

I didnt like the bunt with Pods at second and 0 outs, but bunting Ginter there was the right call IMO.With two guys on,a DP is an inning killer,i just never expected a bunt to end the game.

Anybody know how if the team ERA has fallen in recent weeks? It seems like it should have. The bullpen has been doing a great job as of late.....no proof, just seems that way.

Great win...fun one to watch.

Now let's win tomorrow with Sheets on the mound and get to 3 games over .500 after failing to do so in our first 7 tries this year.

They seem primed to get a gem from Sheets and break outta their offensive funk. Score him some runs and get to that magic 3 games over mark.

Just as many of us guessed, Kinney has added velocity since moving to the Pen. He hit 95 on the gun a couple times last night. Its a much better role for him, less thinking and more just gassing it out. " I like winning, its like , better than losing."http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/happy.gif

Anybody know how if the team ERA has fallen in recent weeks?

On Tuesday's broadcast, they mentioned our starters had an ERA in the high 2's for the last few weeks, which was best in the NL over the given period

Just as many of us guessed, Kinney has added velocity since moving to the Pen.

And he's added both attitude and focus. He looks pissed coming out of the pen.

Also, maybe I'm the only one, but it appeared to me that Ginter could have been called out for interference on the winning play. I mean, he was inside the line when the ball hit him. The only reason I wouldn't call him out, was that he appeared to be reacting to the 1b being in the way, but still we got the benefit of the call on that one

The Brewers' team ERA was in the high 4's-low 5's about three weeks ago, IIRC. Their current tERA is 4.25, which is still only good for 12th best in the NL, though it's also only .4 higher than 5th place. They've definitely made some good progress (or gotten lucky) lately, and I have to say that Maddux has done a much better job than Wynegar so far this season in terms of turning dudes into baseball players.

Well, most of the "improvement" has seemingly been a result of banishing Hernandez to AAA. Ford had an OK ERA except for one game, but he's been replaced easily enough. Santos has taken over for Kinney, and done admirably well, shockingly so. Wes O hasn't pitched in almost 3 weeks. The days off and the rainout has minimized the effect of the 5th starter, and the bullpen has been excellent.

I still can't figure out why LA didn't use Gagne tonight. I kept expecting him to be brought in as the game progressed, and kept thanking Tracey for continuing to give us opportunites to win. You have the most dominant relief pitcher in the game, and he doesn't even warm up in an extra inning game?

You know it's kind of funny, as our team OPS has continued to fall as the bats cool off, the opponent OPS has fallen as well as our pitching has improved in step. In fact for the past couple weeks, we've had a consistent ~.010 difference between the two (in our favor). If we were able to go back to the offense we had a month into the season, yet maintain our current pitching performance, we'd be playing, statiscally speaking, playoff level ball.
