5/29/2004 - Brewers (Obermueller) vs. Padres (Tankersley)

Brewers will try to tie the series back up tonight in an early evening, 6:05 CST, start. The task will be a tough one with the struggling Obermueller on the mound. Hopefully he has a quality start and gives the Brewers a chance to win the series tomorrow.

Dennis Tankersley on the mound for SD is pitching for injured pitcher Jake Peavey and has pitched in 3 games of relief this season and has a 6.00 ERA. Let's hope the Brewers don't make him look like Cy Young like they tend to do to these kinds of Pitchers.

Some Game Notes: Ryan Klesko won't be playing for SD because he was placed on 15-day DL with a strained muscle in his Rib Cage.

Remember when the Padres traded Ed Sprague to the BoSox for Tankersley a few years ago? He had a great season for Padres, moving up two or three levels in the minors, and he had people saying that Towers stole this great prospect from Boston. Well, a few years later, I'd rather have Tankersley than Sprague, but... meh. One year should not a prospect make.

so how many starts does wes have to mess up before we see hendrickson?

Well, Hendrickson's performance yesterday didn't really help his case for a call up. I think we've got enough off days coming up here that we'll only need the 5th starter once or twice over the course of the next three weeks, so it looks like Hendrickson is in Indy until at least late June. Wes will probably be designated for Kinney-like duty out of the pen during that time, unless we decide to option him down to Indy for a while, which is definitely what I would do.

Is it just me, or does anyone else have a feeling that Tankersley will go deep off of us again, especially with Wes on the mound?

And I'd like to see Spivey and Clark on the bench tonight.

If the opposing pitcher wants to hit a solo shot, that is fine with me. As long as Obermueller is around the plate and not walking people, I will take an occasional fluke homerun like the one Zach Day hit for Montreal.

Switch the names around and the type of XBH and I was right. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

Nice job Obie!

Quiet night - everyone at the game?

Wow, if not for a gift error from Loretta and the line double from Obie, yikes.

Nine K's for Tankersley through six?

As Ueck often says, what's going on?

I know they are winning but still the K's are adding up. If it wasnt for Obie they would be loosing cause the other hitters are making tank look great. I know a win would be good and the pitching is good but I worry about these strikeouts.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/embarassed.gif

SOLID night for Obie, against a decent lineup, after not having gotten a start since, like, 1978. That's called earning yourself some rope. Hendrickson's eventually going to prove he's better than Obie and/or Santos, but events of the past 24 hours suggest that may not happen for a while.

Why the HELL is Trent Durrington and Brady Clark Yost's first choices off the bench!!?? HALLLLLLLLLLL. I think Melvin needs to sit down and talk with Yost. Tell him to stop playing favorites and use his F****ing HEAD!

Same does with his Bennett facination. Moeller should be playing 4 of 5 days. Why he isn't is obvious, ex-crappy Yost has a soft spot of ****** backup cacthers, like he was.

ESPN Game Update has Brian Giles being tagged out at home and being on third base at the same time.

It's also weird to see the Brewers with 4 runs, yet nobody currently in the game has an RBI.
