06/04/2004 - Brewers (Santos) at Padres (Tankersley)

And on a different note, how come I haven't heard any criticism of Keith Ginter's defense lately? No "he's got a noodle arm," no "he throws like a girl," no "he sucks at defense," no "he's a utility player"... interesting. I guess that's what happens when Ginter proves all the skeptics wrong... again. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

I really haven't been able to watch much the last... well, since April 19th, but what I've seen from Adams is that while he isn't lighting up the radar gun, he has been hitting the corners as well as anyone I've seen in recent history. You don't need velocity if you can paint the corners with movement (see Greg Maddux).

Why isn't Brooks pinch-hitting for Bennett???

Because double-plays are exciting, and Nedley wanted to please the nice crowd.

Gary Bennett is an atrocious hitter.

I guess we now know if Liefer is with the team yet.....
"His whole life is a fantasy camp. People should plunk down $2000 to live like him for a week. Sleep, do nothing, fall ass-backwards into money, mooch food off your neighbors and have sex without dating... THAT'S a fantasy camp."

Jeff Liefer, you da' man. Welcome back to the big leagues.

EDIT: Bill Schroeder didn't hear the story about Liefer getting locked in the bathroom. I think I finally have definitive proof that he is both illiterate and living in a cave.

First off, you can tell we all were pumped about Hendrickson, cause there's like 1/10 the posts this time, and we're winning!

Secondly, I think Petco is built perfectly for the Brewers. Same would go for Comerica. Lots of room for doubles, triples, and soft liners to fall. Considering we have decent OF speed and a bunch of doubles hitters, this would be a great park for us.

Thirdly, I hope Pods was watching Liefer keeping his weight back there. Although I think he's been keeping his front shoulder in better lately. He also appears to be trying to pull the ball more

Mike Adams, you da' man. I love watching this guy throw - he's freaking phenomenal. This guy needs more love... closer of the future, it would seem.

Perhaps. If I was Vizcaino I'd be worried about losing my job. As for Kolb...perhaps in a year or two. I love what Kolb has done. I agree that his breaking pitch just isn't there this year, but at his salary I can live with it. At a higher salary, I'd be complaining. I could definitely see us dealing Vizcaino, Burba, and Kolb if we should fall out of the division, since some combination of Reichert, Jason Childers, Matt Childers, Wise, Bennett, and Adams could be almost as good.

Another very well-pitched game for the Crew. Some clutch hits. Now we just need our new 5 hitter to heat up. Too much recently have we seen the PH, Pods, or Counsell got on and be stranded by our 3 and 4 hitters. Now we have Overbay to knock them in, so the other teams are afraid. So they'll walk him until someone starts driving him in. Having Overbay hitting 4th should take pressure off of Pods, Counsell, and Jenkins, but unfortunately it'll mean the 5 and 6 hitters need to start producing more

Ahead of the Cubbies -- sweet!

Three games back of the Cards for the Wild Card, four back of the Reds for the Division.

Cards? Reds? Who are they -- nuthin'!

5-5 thus far during this stretch of Dodger - Padre games, not shabby at all...

If this pitching staff goes on to Anaheim and shuts down that offense, wow -- this pitching run is incredible.

Nice job, Mike Maddux -- and I imagine the catchers are helping, if not at the plate.

Have you ever seen fielders positioned better, game in, game out? Rich Dauer -- kudos.

Good night, kids.

great summary Mass.

I really like our chances in the rest of the series. Obermueller vs Valdes and Davis vs Eaton. Obermueller has looked much better lately since he's been throwing strikes and keeping the ball down. And anytime Davis goes I feel good about our chances. Then in Anaheim we'll have Sheets, Santos and either Obermueller or Capuano. I've got to see it's fun having 2 good starters and 3 guys who don't make me want to say "umm, should I listen to the Brewers or the HD Mavs?" Yes, I said Mavs...not Indy, Huntsville, or Beloit.

Anyone else developing a serious man-crush on Mike Adams? I thought so.

I have not been given the chance. Every time he turns sideways, he seems to disappear.

So this is what a winning team looks like... Amazing.

Is it just me or does Petco look like they were trying to capture that Camden Yards like feel, but instead got a "look at what this Kansas twister dropped out of the sky on our new baseball park"?
