EDIT: Bring in Kolb. This is the game right here.

 

That's not a bad idea, but there's no way Nedley would deviate from "the book" like that. Kiesch is good at getting grounders, too, but I would have had more confidence that Kolb could have induced a DP ball. Oh well.

 

Keep Kotchman from scoring and then get some runs!!!

Well, that didn't work out so good.

 

We should cut the Toolshed some slack, 'cause I'm sure his thoughts are with his wife and son and he probably hasn't thrown a ball until today. You kind of have to lay this one on Nedley's doorstep... part of his job is knowing whether a guy is mentally ready to go or not, and it was pretty clear that Brooks wasn't.

 

I'm not going to go ballistic about it, as gauging your players' mental situations is undoubtedly difficult, but that wasn't a very good move bringing Brooks in.
