6/10/2004 - Brewers (Obermueller) @ Angels (Sele)

There's 52 visitors online... we can do better than 24 posts, no? Is everyone burned out from the last two late nights?

Hopefully Obermueller can keep this up for another inning or two. A few more runs would be nice, too.

How aboot them Brewers, eh?

OH OH....

did JR just pop his shoulder? Lets hope he just hyper extended it a bit and he doesnt go JJ Hardy on us. Crap. Sometimes its better to concede a single with 2 outs rather than dislocate your shoulder.

Anyone wanna give a good reason to carry three catchers in the American League?

a) Mike Scioscia was a catcher?

b) The Molina brothers only count as one?

c) Jose Molina is a good pinch-runner?

d) Bengie Molina is hurt and can't play, so they only really have two catchers?

I think it's D, but it could be any of the others, too.

How low will Obermueller's ERA go? Starting the game at 6.80, he's at 6.31 through 5 innings, with only 64 pitches thrown and 11 groundouts vs 3 flyouts

Kind of weird, no K's at all in this game so far

I think they K'd enough on Tuesday to last at least a couple weeks.

Daron just said the itinerary calls for the Brewers' plane to land in Milwaukee at 6 something in the morning tomorrow. That's really lame.

"ooks like he's fine, as he hasn't held his arm or even stretched it"

HUH???? are we watching the same game? He was obviously in discomfort after that play and even mouthed the F bomb as he was attempting to wiggle his shoulder free of pain. What are you watching??? He obviously tweeked the shoulder in some capacity. He was laying flat on his gut, his arm extended and almost rolled up on his face. His shoulder flexability was sincerely tested.

A lot of ppl hate on Obermueller but I think he should get a shot in the rotation every 5th day for the rest of the year. He's a young guy who can get groundballs (which is a plus in miller park), field his position well and help himself with the bat. Sure when his control is off he gets rocked but I think pitching consistently will do him wonders.

Who else is in on the Obie Fan Club?

Brewers at Angels, Angels' feed. They showed the replay 3 or so times, and while he was at full extension, he got right up, made a strong throw, and just said some things while going past first. I saw no signs of discomfort on his face or in his body language. Then to open the top of the inning, they showed him in the dugout talking with others, acting like nothing was wrong

Well, he has shown flashes of brilliance. It seems like every other outing is either really good or really bad.

I guess that is common for a young pitcher still learning to pitch at this level. I do like the fact that he can hit a little.

Just got in, I see Wes is throwing very nicely for the forth consecututive start. How about some props for him everyone? Anyway, Wes is good for six innings and thats it, I hope Ned has the bullpen warmed up and ready for the 7th and on.

Thank you Ajay and Sheets4, you beat me to the post!

I like Wes, and I think he'll probably out-pitch Santos over the long-term. He hasn't really thrown nicely for the last four starts, however... he gave up 4 runs on 7 hits in 5 innings last time out against the Padres.

Still, his groundball/flyball ratio is solid and like I've said many times, he's a very young 27 (because he only started pitching in his senior year of college).

For Curtis Leskanic, he's a very nice acquisition.

Obie love,

I'm a little surprised at the lack of Obie-love in this thread. He's been impressive all night, getting everyone to pound it into the ground. He's been ahead of almost everyone, he's clearly in control.

And as I type, he starts hanging em a little. Gotta be careful Wes.
