6/11/2004 - Brewers (Davis) vs. Houston (Redding)

If Scotty can get his OBP up to .360, and keep coming with power and speed at the rates he has so far, he'll be really valuable -- if his CF play isn't as bad as people here have been saying. If it is, he's still valuable, but kind of a 'tweener, which may make him the perfect fourth OF if our prospects bum rush the proverbial show.

Jenkins continues a slow but sure breakout marred only by his K-fest during the week we spend playing that game in Anaheim.

Is it just me, or does Bill Hall seem like he may be learning how to walk a little?

Greg.

P.S. -- Thanks for the save, Bill.

Adams and Wise would seem the frontrunners, unless someone is nursing an injury. Ginter and Hall would seem safe. So unless Liefer has an option left, it would seem a pitcher or Durrington.

Can I just say how much I hate the behind-the-catcher camera shot? That was one thing I didn't miss on the road trip. I don't know what the director sees in that shot, since you can't see a darn thing.

It also looks like they haven't been able to add the "sky camera" that can do replays from directly above home plate. I know Bill and Daron were both talking about that on the trip and they said some techies at MP were up in the catwalks working on it. I hope they can make it work, 'cause that's always a really nice shot to have on strike/ball calls.

I agree with you re: the behind the catcher cam, too... it's cool as a replay, but not as live footage.

I always get mixed feelings when Scott hits a homer. Now he's gonna try and pull everything for the next week again. Oh well, I'll take this one!

I get that same fear after he jacks one, it's kinda like a Coors Field effect in that it seems to make him think he's a power hitter rather than the contact guy with gap power he is when he's at his best.

Blasted FSN, the station I get here usually carries Astros games with Ranger games being on the local FOX affiliate, but not this series, the one time I really cared that they showed the stros.

We were too distracted by the cheese sandwiches, Toby. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

Is this the beginning of a patented Jenkins hot streak?

Knock on wood.

ETA: I also like the way Yost used Brooks tonight, by having him PH the inning before he comes into pitch. This way, it's possible to get Brooks 2 AB and you save a bench player.

Jimy Williams : "Hello operator, please get me Roger Clemens"

Operator: "Sure, please hold"

Roger Clemens: "Hello, Roger Clemens speaking"

Jimy Williams: "Get your butt over here. You're pitching on Sunday. Forget the Cubs"

I wonder if Houston will reconsider their decision to bump Roger??

This is fun... Jenkins is hitting, we're beating the hail out of the Astros, and I've finally recovered from last night's rip-out-your-heart-and-show-it-to-you loss. Did I mention this is fun?

What doesn't Bobby Abreu do? Man, I'd like to have him.

You and me both, Toby. The odd thing is that a lot of Philadelphia folks don't appreciate him... he's thought of as someone who doesn't hustle or give it his all in every PA/inning. I don't see it, but I also don't see him play that often. He's a legit 5-tool player and he rakes like crazy... who wouldn't want someone like that?

Did I mention yet that this is fun?
