6/16/2004 - Brewers (Davis) vs. Mariners (Nageotte)

I don't know what's going on with Brady and his inability to steal. Last season, he stole 13 out of 15 bases. He was 4 for 5 in 2001 and 1 for 3 in 2002, so last year seems like an aberration, I guess... still, it was the first time he got so much playing time. He is 31, so I guess a gradual decline in speed should be expected, but there must be some other explanation for his Snachez-like ineffectiveness.

C'mon, Po... that bunt single in the first was so promising! Dude has got to quit hacking at those high fastballs... the roid-rage-uppercut is not working for you, Scotty.

And Doug Davis is doing his best to one-up Sheets in the "craptastic hitters" category.

Julio Mateo is an interesting story. He signed with the Mariners way back in 1996 out of the Dominican Republic. He was only 17 and so this is his ninth professional season despite being only 26 years old. He spent two full years with the Timber Rattlers so I'm sure a lot of folks reading this saw him pitch (even if they didn't care at the time).

He's sort of the Mariners' version of Mike Adams, I think.

Anyway, I was just doing some reading about him when he came into the game and figured others might be interested, too.
