06/18/2004 - Brewers (Sheets) vs. Twins (Silva)

Tonight Brewers Ace Ben Sheets takes on surprisingly solid Twins starter Carlos "Better than Gold" Silva. Silva has proven to be a reliable rotation guy after 2 years in the Phillies bullpen. So if you're in the area head to Miller Park. Nice crowds expected and some nice promotions.

Who has the better old logo?

Make Silva throw strikes. He's a guy who has trouble with consistency, though he's pitched very well this month.

And don't let this offense get going. They don't hit a ton of HRs, but they'll kill you with gap shots if you let them.

Wearing my heart on my sleeve since birth. Hopefully, it's my only crime.

Daily Brew series preview will probably be a little late.... I'll post when it's up. Silva was part of the Eric Milton trade and has been uber-solid. Let's hope that Sheets is royally irked about his last start and he takes it out on the Twinkies.

Go team.

EDIT: Daily Brew Series Preview is up at...

I'll add more on the pitching matchups if I have time, but the rest of the "usual stuff" is there, including the NL Central matchups care of SBS. Be sure to check out the game recaps from the Mariners series, too...

Podsednik still in there. Ginter and Clark are tonight's 3B/RF duo.

With all the Twins garb in the stands, I expect some Brewers attire in the stands at the Metrodome next weekend. I'll be there on Saturday night with a Brewers hat and jersey cheering on the Crew.

It seems to me that lately when Sheets is pitching he seems to just bring it more when he doesn't have the lead, and more is on the line. It just appears that as of late, I can't quite remember this being the case in years past, mainly because he never really has had a lead.
