With this recent surge in attendence it seems like they may actually draw 2 mil. They still have all the cub games where they will probably draw in the 40's. I love seeing the seets filled. MP looks way better with bodies in the chairs!!

Like I mentioned in chat, is Jenks getting hot enough for everyone yet? Man, this is fun!

Dan Kolb pitched the ninth inning Saturday for his 21st save. Kolb hasn't allowed an extra-base hit in 32 games and hasn't allowed a homerun in 52 games.

It looks as if he is almost as untouchable as Sheets, and I am serious. This guy can be a part in the future, he is still only 29 and a closer usually goes until he is 40!! If we trade him there will be MANY dissapointed fans...

Oh by the way.......

5 OVER .500 BABY!!!

Just got home from Miller Park.

That comeback was AWESOME. I never expected them to score that much so late. Ron Gardenhire was way too slow in getting his bullpen ready once they started hitting Radke. I was stunned that nobody was warming up after Jenkins and Overbay got on base with nobody out in the 7th inning. Lucky for us.

After the comeback, the Twins fans looked like they were ready to cry. It made me laugh and celebrate even harder.

An awesome win tonight.

GO BREWERS !!!!

Does anyone who went to the game know if Javon Walker was racing in the Hot Dog uniform? It looked like it was a black guy wearing black pants (I think Javon was wearing the same stuff) and he beat everyone by quite a good amount. Then he topped it off with high steps as he reached the finish.

5 games over .500 in mid-June is absolutely fantastic. What a great game again tonight. The Brewers continue to play extremely well at home, taking the first 2 games of yet another series. Let's see if we can get over the sweep slump tomorrow, and even if they can't, 2 out of 3 is still great.

How would you like to be Terry Mullholland tonight?

I havent felt this good about the brewers since 2001....

I got to go to 2 of a 3 game series at pac bell in 2001 right before the allstar break...the crew came in 1 under .500 and went out 2 under...i was still excited..the brewers looked decent..and neugie was gonna be awesome and ...and...and..

and dont get excited yet fellas:

2001:

Record on July 1: 39-39

record for games played after July 1: 29-55

in reality, i shoulda been sick and upset about what happened that year...and i guess i was in some ways...but i wasnt suprised...no..the crew had been playing way above their heads the entire season

now, im not posting this because i think the brewers are going to tank royally this season...but they are playing over their heads..and as much as i want to see them win 90 games this year...i will be glad if they win 75..

i guess i just have to control my emotions for this team..i cant let my expectations get out of hand...because as soon as i start expecting great things from the brewers...they suck it up...

i guess thats just the curse of any brewers fan under 30

Man, I remember that well pogo. Not so much during, but afterwards, when Dean Taylor & Wendy kept pointing to their 4 consecutive winning months which dated back to 2000 when they acquired Richie Sexson.

Before the season I stated I would be happy if the Brewers matched their win totals of 2003 as long as they showed improvements in other areas & played hard. So far so good. With every passing week I'm impressed that the Brewers are still hovering around .500, much less 5 games over. While we have been pointing to important future series recently, I have a feeling the Brewers true test for the year won't happen until we finally play the Cubs, which doesn't happen until after the All-Star break.

I believe Jenkins when he says that this is a totally different team than any he's played with, they expect to win

the attitude has definatly changed in the clubhouse and with the guys even though talent wise they are usually inferior to the competition they match up against. They desire to win and are learning how to do so with each game (win/lose/draw).

its definatly exciting and a lot of these castaway/rejects are going to be around when talent might actually arive in Milwaukee...which should be another exciting time http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

Quick note while enjoying that I got to watch Friday's game and listen to last nights. I was curious about Jenkins month to Month performance. He had a solid April with an .850 OPS which isn't awesome but it's enough to keep the offense going pretty good. His May was Gary Bennet like at sub .700 and thus far his June has been near an .850 again. What's interesting is that he hasn't had the Jenkins like surge this year, but has been pretty good 2 of the 3 months. Maybe he's just saving that big series for the Cubs http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/devil.gif

Great game story from Jim Souhan of the Star Tribune:

When Brewers left fielder Geoff Jenkins came up in the bottom of the seventh, his team trailed the Twins, 5-0. The many Minnesotans in attendance were making Miller Park, its roof having closed in the sixth, feel like a Trading Spaces version of the Metrodome.

"I was taking a verbal beating out there," Jenkins said. "You'd like to think that the people in Jenkins' Junction are all Brewers fans, but you never know."

Jenkins singled to right off Brad Radke for the Brewers' third hit of the game. By the time he came up again, leading off the eighth, the score was 6-6. Jenkins hit the next pitch deep into the right field bleachers for a 7-6 victory.

"You guys aren't used to seeing that too much," Jenkins said. "Well, neither am I. I haven't been on a team like this before."

Jenkins is the best and highest-paid player on a team built on waiver-wire and trade acquisitions. Saturday, the rally he started and the comeback he ended gave the Brewers two victories in a row over the Twins.

The Brewers are 35-30, the first time they've been five games over .500 since May 23, 2001. They won on Friday because of dominant pitching and an early lead. Saturday, it was the Twins who received dominant starting pitching and an early lead.

Reason for doubt? "No," said manager Ned Yost. "I told [reliever Dave] Burba when he came in, 'Burbs, if you hold it right here, you've got a good chance of getting a 'W'.' And he would have, if not for Rivas' homer."

Burba entered with the score 5-0. The Brewers took a 6-5 lead in the bottom of the seventh, and Luis Rivas' homer off Brewers reliever Luis Vizcaino made it 6-6 going into the bottom of the eighth.

Then Jenkins faced Twins lefty Terry Mulholland. "I hadn't seen him in a long time," Jenkins said. "I know he likes to throw that overhand curve. I saw it up, and let it fly."

Jenkins pumped his arms as he rounded the bases, and traded violent high-fives with his teammates in the dugout. The crowd, seemingly pro-Twins earlier, erupted. "That was a huge win for us," Yost said.

Managers rarely say that in June, but few managers work for a franchise that hasn't had a winning season since 1992. Even in 2001, when the Brewers looked competent for two months, they finished 68-94.

On April 27, the Brewers beat the Reds, 10-9, after trailing, 9-0. They've won 14 games this season after trailing, are 20-14 at home, and have a no-name closer (Dan Kolb) who has 21 saves and an 0.98 ERA.

"He's our version of Gagne," Jenkins said, comparing Kolb to Dodgers' closer Eric Gagne.

Jenkins then anticipated today's game, saying, "It's tough to sweep these clubs."

It has been a long time since the inability to finish off sweeps was the Brewers' concern.

"You have to hand it to those guys," Radke said. "They didn't hang their heads when it was 5-0."

Stunning comebacks . . . an improbable closer . . . the ambition to right a fallen franchise.

The 2004 Brewers look like the 2002 Twins -- except it's not likely Bud Selig will try to contract them.
