Yost: I'm very proud of this homestand. They were 12 well played ball games. There were no blowouts."

No kidding. Hell will freeze over before the Brewers blow anybody out.

It's funny listening to the guys in charge when the Brewers lose. When the team loses, its right back to the company line..."We played hard, played very well, etc..."

How you cannot be disappointed with a 7-5 homestand and scoring just 8 runs in three games against the worst pitching staff in the majors is beyond me.

You have GOT to believe that Melvin is looking for a right handed bat to play either left or right. This offense is for crap. Time to make a deal before this steamrolls into another joyless summer.

I still cant believe they lost last night and now this. They should be ashamed. Now they have Johan ***** Santana tomorow. I would be suprised if they get on the board tomorow. They will be lucky to get 1 game in the dome.

Just once I would like to hear a manager or coach say:

"I made a dumb call there and it might have cost us the game".

Every player in the locker room knows it was a dumb decision, and by his not admitting it, he loses more credibility with players.

Sherman did the same thing after costing Packers a playoff win last season by not going for the win on fourth down then to make matters worse, he shifts blame to defensive coordinator. Watch out for trouble this year.

Barry Alvarez once did this after Ron Dayne fumbled late in game his freshman year when Badgers should have been taking a knee. He defended his poor decision and next week they got clobbered. It took him a while to get his team back.

Players put it on the line and when they don't produce, they can't make excuses. Managers and coaches shouldn't either.

But its due to the offense that we continue to lose, not the manager.

That is probably true, but it is the manager's job to put the team in the best possible position to win. The Brewers hadn't put together a rally all game long and were down 2-0, but yet put the first two guys on in the 7th. I can see bunting the guys over down by one run in the 8th or 9th inning, but not in the 7th inning...especially with a full compliment of PH available on the bench.

If Yost truly wanted to bunt the runners over so bad, why wasn't a better hitting pitcher (Obermueller, Capuano) put in there to do it? Sheets had already bunted into a DP earlier in the game, and has proven for many years now that he sucks as a hitter.

He lets Sheets bunt, and then takes him out to pinch-run for him with Liefer. And then Yost says after the game that if Sheets had gotten the bunt down, he would have been back out for the 8th inning...after throwing 110 pitches through 7 frames. Its like he isn't even watching what is happening on the field.

I have no problem "believing" in your players to get the job done. However, you can take it too an extreme so it becomes a fault (example: playing Brady Clark five days a week). I don't care if Ben takes bunt and batting practice every damn day...he has proven time in, time out during the games, when it really counts, that he can't handle the stick. With that being the case, there is no real reason he should have been hitting in that situation.

Being a "hard worker" at something and having the right "attitude" only takes you so far. Sooner or later, you have to have results to show for it. I'm sick and tired of Ned Yost using work ethic and/or attitude as the #1 (and sometimes only) reason for some of the decisions he makes.

When the Crew is playing well, I don't mind the "we hustled, played hard, etc. etc. etc" lines. It's after games like this that those lines ring of so much bullcrap. Call me two-faced, but I don't care how much you hustle when you get blanked by a crappy pitching staff to the tune of 8 runs in a 3 game series.

We can't buy a hit with men in RISP, and our manager compounds it with decisions like the one he made today.

Say all you want about RISP being random and say what you want about small samples. This team is NOT getting it done with RISP. How many times can you get men on 1st and 2nd with none out and not score a single run? My guess is we're going to find out first-hand if things don't change.

I was there, and although I questioned it at the time, I understood Ben bunting in that situation. Ben is fairly good at bunting on the whole. The real problem wasn't Ben bunting, but as my friend and I determined before the pitch, it was having an absolute truck on second base in Chad Moeller. We were confident that no matter where that bunt went, with the leadoff that Moeller had, he'd be easily out at 3rd. The bunt was a good one, just Moeller is as slow as they come. Although I was amazed to see him beat out an infield hit.

And can we stop playing Ginter already? He just looks terrible up there each game. He had a very interesting 3 hit game, in which he made solid contact with one ball. Two of the hits were gifts. I felt bad for Grieve, since he hit two frozen ropes to deep in the OF that were caught.

Overbay also was crushing balls right at people. I can't say the Brewers deserved to lose this game. Sure they hit into a few DP's, but it seemed that most of their outs were crushed. Like in the first inning Pods hit one that Clayton could barely react to, then the last out was also laced right at someone.

Also...Pods, next time Hall is being given second base, and you aren't going to put the bunt in play cause it's head-high, please don't foul it off...you fouled off balls 3 times that were out of the zone when Billy was jogging into second.

Shoddy defense by Pods, and Overbay hurt us, as I think both allowed runs to score. Great throw by Jenkins...not sure why Colorado would let a runner be out by 30 feet

My God...this is depressing. How do you get shut out by some bum pitcher like this?! If they don't get a bat in there to drive in some runs, this team is going down the crapper in a hurry. Prepare for a long rest of the season folks. It's about to get ugly.

Just like this team can't finish off sweeps, they also can't finish off homestands. 7-5 is very disappointing considering what they could have done. I was at the game today, and it was so depressing to watch. Losing a home game to a team that can't win on the road with your ace on the mound? That's just TERRIBLE.

It's funny how two bad losses really kill the excitement and momentum of winning all those series before. A few weeks ago I was so pumped, and now I am really down on this team. I guess that's how baseball is. It's easy to lose your perspective after just two or three games.

Nobody was hitting today, but it seems that rightfield and catcher are just killing us. Especially rightfield where you really need a big time slugger in there.

AJAY, can you really complain about what Grieve did today? Pounded one to CF on a line that required a leaping offbalance grab from Burny to save a run, a broken bat single to left, and a line drive to the track in left (any air and it's a homer)

I was actually talking about the season as a whole. I respect Grieve's high on base percentage, but only 4 HR's and a low batting average? That's still does not translate into a lot of RBI's

And can we stop playing Ginter already? He just looks terrible up there each game.

Let's look at his series against Min:

7-11, 1 walk, 2 doubles

Since you guys like small sample sizes so much, he batted .634, with a .666 OBP.

We all know Ginter has been struggling, but it's funny when he has an awesome series and breaks out of his slump, he's criticised for "looking terrible".

I agree on that one. I have no complaints about Ginter. That day or two off helped him out. When you slump, those dribblers never find a hole but when you're in a groove they do. I think he's breaking out of it.
