nice job not to get runs again. Is it me or is pods trying to hit homers and not trying to get on base. I went to the game on sunday and it looked like alot of the guys were trying to kill the balll. When they were really hitting well early in the year they were hitting alot of base hits. They need this again. cause should have got at least one run there.

First off, it's pretty sad that a pitcher that hits as crappy as Sheets can't even sacrifice.

Beyond that, I don't disagree with the call to bunt there, but having Sheets do it was asking for trouble, especially considering his botched bunt earlier in the game. PRing for Sheets after the fact was definitely the right thing to do, though.

"Did Jerry Royster take over as manager and we weren't informed? "

My thoughts exactly. What the hell was Yost thinking?http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/mad.gif

This is from the same guy that gives a guy the green light on 2-0 when they need a run to tie the game with a walk. Work the count and take a walk-- do you have any control oer players Ned.

The 3rd base coach should just be more daring and send the runners and take a chance.

Yost just makes an absolute FOOL of himself sometimes. He'll compound it by giving some pathetic excuse after the game.

He'll say, "We thought that would be a great learning experience for Benny out there. He really battled during that AB. Unfortunetely he hit that bunt a little too hard. I would do it again if I had the chance."

Bunting guys on first and second over is not easy even for good bunters (which Sheets is not). I wouldn't have bunted and given up the out but if I did, you have to use Hall there.

Sheets was absolutely done anyway having thrown well over 100 pitches. Now he's not only stopped a rally, he's used up another hitter in Liefer to run. Heck use Obermueller to run.

On the other hand, the D-Rays just won a 19-13 slug fest at Skydome. I wonder what scoring lots of runs is like?????

I hear it's pretty fun, but I have no personal experience with that sort of thing.

Sorry, Peavey, gotta disagree with you there.

When you haven't scored yet in the game in the seventh inning and have two on with nobody out, Im sorry, but you don't basically give up an out.

Down one in the eighth or ninth inning? Absolutely, bunt away. Down two in the seventh inning? With a full compliment of pinch hitters available? No way.

I'm sure after the game Yost is going to say that he didn't want to waste a pinch hitter just to bunt, but he didn't even need to use a pinch hitter to bunt. He could have used Obermueller or whoever else is the best bunting pitcher they have. I'm sure almost all of them can handle a bat better than Sheets.

I really wouldn't have bunted there, but at least find someone besides Sheets to do it.

I know wins matter but I think if Ben is going to be ours for a long time then we need to instill confidence in him early on when the wins aren't as important as in a season where the playoffs are legit.

Sheets is going to have to learn how to get on base at some point if he doesn't want to remain a liabliity at the plate...I know that Milwaukee has been doing really well lately but isn't this still a learning season for a lot of the guys? We are still experimenting with some infield and outfield players as well as bullpen arms...I think Sheets just needs a confidence booster and thats what Yost tried to give him.

Im not justifying the call...just dont start a fire yost thread because he's helped this ballclub a WHOLE lot more than hes hurt it

Tampa freakin' Bay just put up 19 runs on the board against the Jays today. My goodness, we probably haven't scored 19 runs combined in our last two series! Just imagine what our record would be if we even just had Tampa Bay's offense! This is pathetic. We're making Cook look like an all star.

Just got back and turned on the computer to see we've wasted another outstanding Sheets effort. 10Ks. The box score says the 2 runs are unearned. That sucks even more.

After excellent series against Anaheim, Houston, Seattle and Minnesota, we finish up lame against the lowly Rockies. Kinda limping into the Homerdome for the weekend, ah?
