Time to exercise the demons of PNC

I dunno, giving em a workout is fine and all, but I'd rather they be exorcised http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/tongue.gif

(sorry I couldn't help myself)

I had a long drive so I listened to the last several innings without internet access (ahhhhh?!?!). Couple thoughts:

1> Nedley didn't do anything wrong... if Kieschnick would have not sucked, he could have finished the game and saved Vizco and Kolb for tomorrow and the rest of the weekend. At the same time, Jason is right on - there's a reason *we're the only team in the majors* with 13 pitchers. It's a bad idea. There aren't enough innings to go around, *especially* when our starters are freaking smoking hot. Over the next week, having 13 pitchers is fine... but its a delicate balance and you risk leaving guys out for extended periods and seeing something happen like today.

2> I almost drove off the road when Helton hit that ball to the wall. How about Vizco getting the job done? It wasn't pretty to listen to, but he got RC, Helton, and PWilson when we really needed. That's so clutch. ( http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif )

3> Nice to see Ben Grieve sucking out there again. I wish our other three outfielders sucked as much as him... that would be so cool.

4> Nice to see Ginter with one at-bat for the series. Nedley's comment about "riding the hot hand" apparently doesn't apply to him. Not that I didn't expect this, but I gotta stick up for my boy. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

5> Seven games above .500. Are you kidding me? This is like christmas, only its every day, and its not snowing.

I'm stoked.

I think Ginter's replacements did just fine. Helms had a couple of hits, Spivey had a dinger and a few hits, Counsell had three hits.....all in all, I don't think Ginter would have made much of a difference. I guarantee he starts at least one tomorrow though. I think he'll do well.

Dont forget the last time we swept a team this late in the season, with a winning record, and then went to Pittsburgh?? We got swept, and it was a 4 game series I think. I'll feel a lot better if we can split tomorrow. I hate playing Pittsburgh, they can throw out a bunch of old blind men ( i think they have at one time havent they?) and still give us hell.

DONT LET UP THIS WEEKEND!!!

Homer called that one.

After the doubleheader it's time to bring obermueller down and hart up. Let that Wise feller play #5 starter every 10 days or so. He can't be any worse than Oby http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

Ginter's so-called hot streak was hilarious. Did he hit a single ball hard during the streak? Well, there was that double inside the line, I think. I was at the game last Thurs, and it was incredible how aweful he was, yet somehow managed 3 hits to give the impression he'd had a good game. 3 hits totalling about 150 feet. One ball's an out if it doesn't hit the bag, another one is hit 2 feet to the left of the 3b and rolls off his glove, and the third was surrounded by 3 Rockies who somehow felt a ball 8 feet fair would manage to roll foul.

I like Keith, but man he sure even managed to look bad while "hot." Hopefully next time he gets to start, either he produces more or we don't have to bat him 5th.

During his hilarious hot streak of 9 games he went 13-30 (.433 average) with 2 walks, 8 RBIs and a 2 doubles.

O yeh, but he looked really bad.

Huh? I don't get it.
