7/6/2004 - Brewers (Santos) vs. Cubs (Prior)

Santos reminds me more of Phillip Michael Thomas of Miami Vice fame

I always think of Santos L. Helper from when the dog got a credit card on the Simpsons. Im going to start calling him Victor Santos L Helper...lame, I know.

"Nearly an hour after the game, official scorer Wayne Franke changed his call on Counsell's bunt, making it an infield single, a ruling that meant all four runs were earned instead of unearned"

Throw some salt in the wounds? I wonder if this will get changed back to an error later though. A good throw does get Counsell at first.

mothership... you're a poet. That was beautiful.

Though I may have failed in college while trying to recreate the magical styles of Coleridge and Wordsworth, it's good to know that my stylings in the Scarface, Willie D, and Bushwick Bill genre will be remembered for at least 3 minutes.

By the way, I was drunk when I made that post, seems to be a recurring theme with all this free time on my hands. Tonight's swill of coice was a 40 oz Schlitz Malt Liquor. In light of the success the Crew had while I was drinking said malt liquor, I hereby promise that in the spirit of "gangsta up" I will drink a 40 every day that the Brewers are going for a sweep for the rest of the season (however, I don't smoke weed, so someone else will have to carry out that facet of gangstadom for me). See, superstition can be fun!

A few thoughts from someone who couldn't watch any or listen to much of the game tonight:

-The sleepy vampire rules... is there a place where the rest of the sleepy vampires hang out, and do any of the others pitch? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

-Danny Kolb is the man.... least deserving All-Star my ass... second best closer in the NL, hands down.

-I know there were a few comments about Jenkins stealing tonight, but I'll give kudos to Yost for experimenting a bit to try and spark the struggling offense- Jenks with 2 SB in the last couple games and Overbay stole one in Pittsburgh. Of course, if it works its great, if they get thrown out, it looks idiotic http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

-Danny Kolb is the man

-I'm getting mixed feelings about tomorrow's game... will have to wait and see how it looks tomorrow http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

-Going for the sweep vs. the Cubs at home after a terrible series in Pitt is fantastic, and pulling off the sweep would be incredible.

Here's to DD shaking off his worst start of the year on Friday and throwing a quality start tomorrow...

-Did I mention that Danny Kolb is the man?

So apparently Kolb being an All-Star doesn't mean that he gets his name said correctly on Sportscenter, as he was just referred to as Danny Kaaaaalb (say that with a boston accent).

Seriously, how hard is it to say Kolb?

Well, the Houston Cougars QB has that last name but he pronounces it "Cobb". Not defending the lameness that is ESPN, but I've seen Kolb pronouced a few ways.

He went on to comment on another Brewer player's name (Grieve I think). basically he just made fun of Brewer names the whole time. They probably already had the "Prior dominates Brewers" plot all written and had nothing when the Crew stomped on him. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

Yeah, they had a big to do on BBTN about Prior's pitching performance last night. I was at a bar after softball, so I didn't hear the audio, but it looked like all they showed was Brewer strikeouts.
