OK, I'm all set for tonight's game. I made the "Cork" emblem on the front of a T-Shirt, with the word "SWEEP!" on the back. Hopefully we can send the Cub's fans home early again. Of course they leave early no matter what so....

Not sure if anyone posted about this earlier, but all of Prior's runs are earned now due to an official's scoring change.

From rotoworld.com....

Following tonight's game against the Brewers, the official scorer changed a bunt to a single instead of a sacrifice, resulting in the four runs Mark Prior gave up becoming earned.

Weak. Craig Counsell bunted following a leadoff double in the first inning. Brendan Harris made the play, but he overthrew the first baseman and the Brewers went on to score four runs in the inning. Because the runs are now considered earned, Prior's ERA jumped from 3.00 to 4.00. Jul. 7 - 12:56 am et

I now officially have a good feeling about this game

Well if Peavey's locking in a win now, I dunno if I'll even bother listening. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

Someone is due for a sweeping. According to the Cubs press release,

"The Cubs need a win today to avoid being swept in a 3-or-4-game series for the first time this year... the Cubs have not been swept in a 3-or-4-game set since September 24-26, 2002, when Cincinnati won all 3 games of the clubs? series."

Weak.

Having just replayed the Counsell bunt again I think the change is correct.

Counsell didn't show bunt early as in a sacrifice, never squared around totally and was obviously bunting for a base hit. It was a very difficult play for the 3B and the throw was high and wide but not overthrown. Lee could have gotten it if he'd come off the bag in which case it would have been ruled a hit. The error allowed Pods to score and Counsell to take 2nd but given subsequent events they would have scored anyway.

But the scorer should have been able to make the correct decision after one replay.

I agree with Whizkid. The only reason "a good throw would have gotten him" is because the guy made a good play just to get to the ball, pick it up and be in position to make a throw. It was a beautiful bunt that Counsell made without showing until the last second.

IIAY--That Cubs Suck logo is awesome.
"His whole life is a fantasy camp. People should plunk down $2000 to live like him for a week. Sleep, do nothing, fall ass-backwards into money, mooch food off your neighbors and have sex without dating... THAT'S a fantasy camp."
