Game Over.

Roger Clemens cost us the home field advantage this October. It looks like the Brewers will be playing more road games during this year's fall classic.

The managers sure didn't manage any differently than they did in Milwaukee two years ago. If there had been a big comeback, they would have been in the same boat going into extra innings. Of course, it really would have been a near miraculous comeback, but McKeon sure didn't manage like it counted for much.

Finally McCarver shuts up. Worse than Schroeder. Worse than Walton.

Kolb and Sheets did a heck of a job. Sheets in particular really looked sharp and was efficient.

My thoughts:

I have never minded Buck and McCarver before, but my goodness there wasn't a half-second of pause between sentences the whole game. I started to get annoyed. They talked more than radio announcers that have to describe every pitch.

They must have sewed two AL batting-practice jerseys together for Ruben to wear.

Kent wasn't great at 2B but the missed DP was not his fault. I think Renteria should have been able to turn that.

Who would have ever guessed we'd see Kolb in the 2nd and Sheets in the 8th- should have been the other way around. But they both did us proud.

If you criticize McKeon, you have to criticize Torre the same way. He was also trying to get everyone possible into the game. I don't think you can criticize either manager too much. No matter how much it counts, this game is managed way different than any other game they manage throughout the year. How they manage this game bears no resemblence to how good of a manager they are normally.

The NL may have lost, but they have better pitching. If you look at the starting pitchers who relieved in this game, every one of the NL's (Johnson, Zambrano, Pavano, Glavine, Sheets) is better than the AL's (Loaiza, Sabathia, Vazquez, Lilly). Closers are close to even, and the 2 starters should have been even, except that Clemens just had a bad night.

I would criticize him for NOT getting enough people in the game. How can you leave FOUR pitchers on the bench (okay, 3 not counting Schmidt)?? I don't think anyone besides the starter should throw more than 1. Carl Pavano gets 2?? Joke.

Maybe the managers of those starters asked that they not be used....

They weren't all starters. Schmidt was out, as we already know, because he threw Sunday. Hernandez's a starter, but Graves and Benitez sure aren't.
