Grieve hasn't made a bad defensive play in a while... give him some slack, Toby - its not his fault he has Scotty Po's arm.

Jeff Bennett in a tight game with a guy on third?

Um, no thank you.

Oh, and another really nice play by Grieve. That was probably luck, but I gotta pimp my man!

And I agree with Daron... why not more Doug Davis? He didn't pitch bad. Jeff Bennett is bad, especially lately.

This sucks.

Oh yeah. And this sucks.

Here's a little back-and-forth from NSB:

1. That was a bad play by Posedink. Even if he catches it on the dive he isn't going to throw out Patterson at the plate so why take the chance?

2. Maybe he just likes to dive.

3. Edmonditis.

4. Or maybe that's why it took him to 27 before he got to the majors.

LOL.

tough luck there. Counsell with a rare error. Jenkins appears to have a guy at third, but the call goes the other way. A terrible pitch. A nice effort by Pods (seeing as the run would cross no matter what, might as well try for the out). Then Bennett gets worked a bit. Tough inning. How 'bout some runs. WE've had some good at bats tonight, but nothing to show

How many times has Ned Yost had a full compliment of bullpen guys, yet always selects the WORST possible candidate?

Burba, a ground ball pitcher, is there. So is Wise. Yet, he brings in Bennett, a guy who has failed time and time again in "tight" spots.

That being said, the Brewers can't expect to stay in games where they have only three hits. You can draw walks till the cows come home, and it makes the overall OBP look good, but you have to get hits to score some runs.

Nice to see Billy getting some time at third, although Wes did have a hit earlier in the evening.

Remember last year when I defended Glendon Rusch and got slammed pretty hard for doing so? Remember how I said he wouldn't suck this bad next year, 'cause 2003 was an aberration and he's really more like the pitcher he was in 2002?

I told you so. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

Seriously, though... we survived all those horrible starts by Glendon last year, so the least we deserve is to knock him around a bit tonight.

This might be a perception issue, but I'm REALLY REALLY sick of seeing the Crew score in the first, and then hang up the bats for the night. This is at LEAST the third time in the last few weeks they've done this. What the hell is going on?!?

Grudzy with a Ben Grieve moment.

How 'come Scotty looks like the 2003 version of himself, not the first-half-of-2004-version? This is very good to see, and hopefully the ASB gave him some time to regroup.

EDIT: Stealing off of Rusch is really difficult... he's one of the best in baseball at limiting the stolen base. Nicely done by Po. If he could combine his 2003 on-base skills with his 2004 thievery skills, he'll be amazing and more than make up for his Grieve-esque centerfield play.

Journey is going to sing the 7th inning stretch. Journey?

We have five catcher's interferences this year. That's more than double *everyone else in baseball*.

God dangit. Jenkins is his usual stupid self, grounding into a DP. Nice job by Rusch getting over to cover, but Jenkins slows up and then trips over Rusch's foot. Not only is Glendon dealing, now he wants to hurt our injury-prone "star"?

EDIT: Upon further review, bad call... Glendon didn't touch first base.

No thank you. This game is anti-fun.

Anyone else have an eerie feeling we're going to come back from the commercials and Jenks is out of the game headed to the DL and the club loses 16 out of their next 20??

This isn't a good start to the 2nd half http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/ohwell.gif

What a shock. Jenkins does the worst possible thing with runners on base.

How many of you would like to see Lyle Overbay in that spot? Or Ben Grieve? Or even Keith Ginter?

Me too.

Yet, Yost refuses to take a guy who has looked awful all year at the plate out of the #3 spot.
