7/20/2004: Brewers (Davis) @ Reds (Claussen)

What happened to that team we had back in May that was getting clutch hits all over the place, and where no lead was ever safe against us. You know, the "don't leave early" crew? Man, this looks like a totally different ball club right now.

I don't think its quite over yet, lets see what happens in these next 5 games before we say it's over. They have favorable match-ups in StL, lets see if they can take both of them. If they lose 4 out of the next five or something I'll say it's over, but not yet. BTW, Cubs on top on a Lee HR.

EDIT: and a Barrett HR, 4-1 Cubs, man Matt Morris sucks

Jason LaRue out on a sacrifice fly to right fielder Brady Clark. Sean Casey scores. Adam Dunn out at home. Adam Dunn out at home, right fielder Brady Clark to first baseman Lyle Overbay to shortstop Bill Hall to third baseman Wes Helms.

This is what is on my Gameday. What happened?

We'll look back on today as when the tide turned for the season.

That along with "This game is a must win" must have been said about 1000 times this year. I should know, I own about 5 of them http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

With the exception of Overbay, this whole offense is pretty much junk. Sad but true.

You guys sound like Cubs' fans. Or Red Sox fans.

Yuck. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

I just took a peak out my window, and as far as I can tell the sky isn't falling. When this team stops proving how resilient it is, then I'll jump on the "oh dear god woe is me" bandwagon. Until then, I'll just go ahead and predict that they'll take two of three from the Cardinals and the game thread will turn into a "buy a right fielder!" fest.

Well, Doug Davis should have gotten the win but the offense stabbed him in the back again. I feel bad for Davis and Sheets. They turn in decent and great games and almost always end up getting shafted. It's a real shame. This team needs some firepower or we can kiss the postseason goodbye. Why did Yost start Magruder? I'm still trying to figure that one out...

How 'bout some lovely lyrics from Travis to help quell the anger:

Well I believe there's someone watching over you

They're watching every single thing you say

And when you die they'll sit you down and take you through

You'll realize one day

That the grass is always greener on the other side

Neighbors got a new car that you want to drive

And the time is running out

You wanna stay alive

We all live under the same sky

We all will live, we all will die

There is no wrong, there is no right

The circle only has one side

We all try to live our lives in harmony

For fear of falling swiftly overboard

But life is both a major and a minor key

Just open up the chord

That the grass is always greener on the other side

Baby's got a new car that you want to drive

And the time is running out

You wanna stay alive

We all live under the same sky

We all will live, we all will die

There is no wrong, there is no right

The circle only has one side

Nobody jump off a bridge this afternoon... you'll miss tomorrow's win against the Cardinals! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

EDIT: And yeah, I forgot that they only have two games with the Cardinals. I hate these stupid mini-series, especially with no travel days. This isn't the NBA for christsakes.

So yeah. We'll sweep the Redbirds.

Ok. I'm in my car. I turn on the radio. I hear that the Brewers are down 3 and the bases are loaded. THEN Ueck says Yost is taking out Davis.

Did I miss something?

Are all of our 8 relievers needed in the St. Louis series to the point where we leave the starter in WAY too long in a game that SHOULD mean something, but apparently doesn't to our manager?

Someone help me out here.

They have now scored 14 runs in six games since the All Star break, or 2.33 runs per game. Will you guys please at least concede the playoffs at this time? I would imagine most teams only playing four games since the break have eclipsed that total. As I said before(to rebuttal), they are a compilation of singles hitters and it is starting to bite them in the a$$.
