7/23/2004: Brewers (Capuano) @ Astros (Clemens)

brettac1

Well, this one should be fun. Capuano has pitched well pretty much all season, including a nice start against Houston in Milwaukee on June 12. He also was injured for the first time this season at Houston earlier in the season. Clemens has been Clemens this season, and has started one game thus far against the Crew, April 18 in Houston. He allowed one run on four hits and K'd seven men in seven innings. In 27 career starts vs. the Brewers, Clemens is 14-9 with 11 CG, three SO, a 1.89 ERA, and 208 K's in just over 204 innings pitched. Nothing's better for sick bats than Roger Clemens.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

I think I would pick Clemens as the guy to get us back over .500

We struggle versus all the soft tossers, and no-name guys. So why not bring in a guy who likes to throw the fastball for a team full of guys who like to hit the fastball.

C'mon Crew. I promise if you get us back over .500 people will continue to visit these fine threads. If you slip below .500 the Packers will take over our minds and hearts.

Well this is another big series. Here are the NL Central Standings which should explain why:

TEAM W L PCT GB St. Louis 61 34 .642 - Chicago 51 44 .537 10.0 Cincinnati 50 46 .521 11.5 Milwaukee 47 47 .500 13.5 Houston 47 48 .495 14.0 Pittsburgh 44 49 .473 16.0

As you see if the Brewers lose this game, they AGAIN find thereselves in the cellar of the NL Central. A familiar number: 5TH. So let's hope that we can at least take 2/3 from the Astros. Let's be confident about tonights game. Here's to a win!!

3 weeks ago this thread would have had a thousand posts in it. Now the Crew falls alll the way down to ***GASP*** .500 and noone cares anymore?

ANYWAY, here's to seeing Cap continue on his quest to prove himself a viable Major League starter.

Here is to 34 more W's and getting one tonight. 81 or more and bring on '05.

the dry streak over the last few days just washes out all the day-traders, the long term (fans preceding the 2002 disaster) are still pretty darn happy.

Back to the regular lineup, except for Ginter batting second.

I'm calling this one a win, right now.

Well the reason for overbay overswinging is rather glaringly obvious, he even admitted it after the game a couple of games ago, he is trying to carry the ENTIRE offense now, before he was able to go out there and do his thing w/ not as much pressure.

Great catch jenks

Man that was a good trade...

Man we have the best pitchers...they are darn good.

We are part of the way to my Brewer dream team. Great pitching and great defense. (and AVERAGE offense)
