7/24/04: Brewers (Hendrickson) @ Astros (Redding)

brettac1

Since I'm feeling good about the boys again, I figured I'd get the ball rolling for another victory. Fresh off the positive bounce of a Brewers victory in which they scored 7, count 'em 7 runs, Lil Ben goes for his first Big League victory. He has struggled thus far, but let's hope today is the day he gets it together for a win, or at least a solid performance. Redding has struggled mightily this season (3-6, 6.03 ERA), especially against the Crew (0-2, 6.00, spanning two starts and 9 innings of work). He has also struggled at home, with a 1-3 record, a 6.99 ERA, and a staggering .349 BAA and 1.85 WHIP. In 11 games (9 starts) career against the Crew, Redding has a 2-5 record and 4.78 ERA. Could this be the one for Ben? I think so! Go Crew!!!!

I'm getting in on this one early. I jokingly predicted 6 runs off of Clemens, and we got 5 off of the rocket, and 7 for the game.

I think the offensive roll continues, and the Crew snaps their streak of getting dominated by mediocre pitchers.

At least........that's what I'm hoping.

Please make another fine prediction for tonight's game. Hopefully you can get on a prediction role like Peavey did a little while back.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/happy.gif

Hers my simple prediction for tonights game, if the Crew doesn't score 7, they'll lose. The Astos are struggling mightily, but they will light up pussball Hendrickson. Tim Redding has awesome stuff, but hes not tough minded and has pitched horribly this year.

Here's my prediction. Lil Ben, tired of people calling him pussballs, and finally over his debut (both of em) jitters, will settle down, throw some sweet hooks, turn in a serviceable start, and shut people up for a little while.

I consulted the OPTIMISM GENERATOR , and it gave me this:

Brewers win 8-3, Hendrickson allows two runs on five hits in seven innings and strikes out five without allowing a walk, and Tim Redding doesn't get out of the second inning. Gary Bennett is going to get at least one hit, too.

I consulted Bills OPTIMISM GENERATOR and came up with this line for li'l Ben:

5 IP, 6 hits, 2 walks, 3 ER, 4 K's.

and a win for the Brewers, 7-4. No way our bullpen pulls another job like they did last night. (Adams, Burba, I'm looking at you!)

Today's lineups are brought to you by Prudential. There are some things you can count on, like Geoff Jenkins batting in the 3 hole. Prudential will always be there. Build your life on the rock.

Should be a great game considering Redding has been in and out of the rotation and has been anything but consistent as a starter. Hopefully Hendrickson comes through, gets the run support he needs and wins the game. Go Crew!

Reading the JS Online link in the first post of this thread, I learned the Crew has a multi home game about every full moon. It has been hard to get them runs in bunches.

Li'l Ben I hope can finally relax. If I were catching him, I would make him throw a lot of curves to start. That is his pitch. He might as well live or die with it.
