7/27/2004: Brewers (Sheets) v. Cubs (Maddux)

Johan Santana is throwing a one-hit shutout for the Twinkies

And he's not even facing the Brewers...

"His whole life is a fantasy camp. People should plunk down $2000 to live like him for a week. Sleep, do nothing, fall ass-backwards into money, mooch food off your neighbors and have sex without dating... THAT'S a fantasy camp."

Did you know that in addition to having three hundred million wins and two hundred and eighty billion gold glove awards, Greg Maddux is a composed professor who loves little children and is a champion of the downtrodden? He's like Ghandi combined with Michael Jordan.

Russell the Muscle doesn't care though. That was beautiful.

Maddux done--thank you, Dusty. Let's see if we can get to their bullpen.

Maddux is out of the game.

I thought Daron was going to start crying. Seriously. He said three times in a row, "Maddux is out of this game. Maddux is out of this game. Maddux is out of this game."

My condolences, Daron.

So how many career gold gloves does Jon Leicester have? How many career wins? Does he like children and puppies? Does he have a personal catcher who sucks at hitting that could blandly testify to his greatness for us? Does he have a brother that loves him and respects him?

I'm dying to know.

Okay, I know we are losing, but is anyone else ecstatic to see Branyon hit a homerun already? If this guy is half-way decent, he can solve our thirdbase problems for a while.

Small sample, but I like him already.

Good to se that, despite Maddox being pulled, they are still talking about the great one. BOOO!!

BTW, why is Oberbay batting 5th? Can you name the other guy in the league batting over .330 batting lower than 4th?

O wait.

LOL! Great post. My guess is that Leicester is fond of puppies but may not like children too much.

Ok guys! Let's see some of you in the chatroom. It's a great place where we can all spill our guts about how bad this team and their announcers really are. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/happy.gif

They're still talking about Greg Maddux. It's almost like they're doing it tongue-in-cheek, but they're not. It's really quite amazing.

This broadcast could be sold as a (very poorly done) Greg Maddux tribute tape. I hope Daron and Bill are getting a kickback from Greg, 'cause he's gotten more free publicity than John Kerry on Sunday Night Baseball.

How about we talk about something else? Let's talk about our players, like perhaps Doug Davis (who just signed a new contract) or Russell Branyan (who just joined the team) or our minor leaguers (maybe Trent Durrington who is playing in the Olympics, which is an interesting "human interest" story). It doesn't matter... just spend some time talking about our team. Or at least talk about the intersection between Maddux and our players... Helms played with him - why didn't they interview the ole' Caveman about Maddux the Wonderful?

I hate this broadcast. I hate all of their broadcasts. But I hate this one more than usual.
