8/4/2004: Brewers (Davis) vs. Mets (Trachsel)

ja002h

Sickening. This is becoming a nightly thing watching a pitcher melt down while Ned stands idly by.

Im no Yost fan by any means, but Davis headed into the inning with 80 pitches and showed no signs of slowing. And he got Adams up in the pen immediately after his first walk and pulled him after the second walk, so he hardly stood "idly by".

EDIT: If that had been Wes Obermueller, he would have let him walk in a run before taking him out. So, I guess the hook was unusually quick. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif

JaNelson. You're right, I let emotion get me there.

I'm just tired of watching guys get into too much trouble before Ned makes a move (see Capuano last night)

I'm letting my extreme dislike of Yost's in game management strategy get to me, and well, ya know.

So who should be batting leadoff if Pods drops to 8th...Counsell, Hall, Branyan, Overbay, Clark, Grieve, ????

I look forward to September when we have Krynzel and Hart who we can throw in CF and RF for a start or two. The problem is that we still will have no leadoff hitter.

Heck, maybe we should bat Scotty 9th with the LaRussa plan for a second leadoff man.

Also, I'd love for Coste to come up to give us a catcher with a bat. At this point I'd almost like to see Durrington get a start or two back there since he's the emergency catcher.

Counsell should lead off. Followed by Grieve, Hall(to break up LH), Overbay, Jenkins, Branyan, Catcher du jour, Podsednik.

Hopefully Podsednik will be slightly pitched around in the 8th spot so he can start getting on base again.

Had I been online last night, I would have pointed out that Merriweather's strike zone from about the 5th inning on bore no resemblence to his strike zone in the first few innings.

Hard to blame Davis as he threw pitches that had been strikes and suddenly weren't and the game changed dramatically.

Merriweather has to be the worst ball/strike umpire in the game.

endaround, I guess I'm now tempted to ride out the hothand in Clark. So I'd have him or Hall hit 2nd. Hall usually seems to have better at bats in non-power spots in the order. Actually, I think Hall could do a heck of a job hitting 3rd if given the chance
