Didn't one of the guys on this board have Melvin's email at some point. Why not shoot him an email and discuss Yost's favoritism?

shhhhhhhhhh....

You're gonna jinx Helms...

He's gonna break out of his slump today by going 1-4 with a BB

Brewer fever....CATCH IT!!!

endaround, that's cool about the win shares and all, but my main point was that clark has been our best hitter since the all star break and grieve has put up some gary bennett looking numbers in the same time frame, with the exception of a higher slg.

i don't see how anyone can at this point argue that it's a good idea to sit one of our hottest bats in favor of one of our coldest ones. especially given the recent offensive struggles.

also, as of 07/24/04 grieve had 8 win shares and clark had 5. so in less than two weeks clark has almost matched him for the season and will likely pass him if he continues his hot hitting after the break.

maybe everyone that thinks grieve is a better player is right, but right now clark should be getting the majority of the pa's until he cools off.

"There's probably a difference between making a crack about a slick hallway and the wet ramp being selected for the all-star game. "

Or more likely, there's NO difference.

Ueck lightened up, and Rich Dauer joked about it last month, too.

No one wanted to see him paralyzed or even his career ended, Brian...

if it wasn't for that wet ramp helms would likely be down around .220 or so by now (if not lower) and yost would still insist on playing him for no good reason.

who knows, though, if it weren't for the wet ramp maybe he'd have 4 or 5 homers by now.

and on the brewers' webpage it mentions :

"Medical report: Russell Branyan was dealing with some adversity on Thursday, when he was scratched from Yost's original lineup with a mysterious wrist injury."

and

"Branyan went 3-for-5 with three RBIs in Wednesday's loss and was a double shy of the cycle. He was originally slated to play third base and bat cleanup on Thursday, but he woke up that morning to find his right wrist swollen and hurting."

Didn't you dummies see Butterfly Effect? If Helms hadn't slipped in Puerto Rico, we might very well be living under the rule of apes.
"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

I give up.

Obviously, Wes Helms never recovered from slipping on that wet ramp...he was never able to play baseball anymore...he voided the remainder of his contract...his wife left him...his kids won't return his calls...he developed an alcohol problem...all his friends deserted him...his credit rating was destroyed...he now lives in a cardboard box...his life was ruined forever...

What? None of those things happened, he came right back to work a few weeks later, his friends and family still love him, and his loved ones are set for life, financially?

Never mind.

I wasn't ridiculing a handicapped person falling out of a wheelchair, or a soldier dying. An athlete took a header, and I made a joke.

This will dog me to my grave, I tell ya...
