"He's as good as there is at what he does. He's the best ever at what he does. He's a weapon. At the end of games, he's a guy that can come in and give you a hit and get something started. That's not an easy job to do."

If the IF is at normal depth, isn't that ball caught? It looked like it to me, but regardless why is the IF in with a GB P and no outs? Wouldn't you rather just take a tie if you could get one? F'N ridiculous.

I have a dream! That one day, we will see equality in this land. That one day, players will be judged on the amount of their talent, and not the content of their character.

I have a dream that one day, Ned Yost will awake and realize that Wes Helms is a horrible baseball player. And on that glorious day, we shall join as one and sing:

Free at last!

Free at last!

Thank God Almighty,

We're free at last!

(of Helms).

I don't understand why you give a free pass to load the bases up with nobody out and up by a run and then bring the infield in. Its not like the game was tied.

Loduca is up with the bases loaded. You put the IF at double play depth. You give up the run, on the road, for two outs and hope to get out of the rest of the inning. If Loduca drives it in the gap thats another thing.

But I don't see why you bring the infield in.

If everything holds true to Brewer form-- Kolb will become a worthless pitcher from now on and will never regain his first half form. The Brewers could have traded him away to most any contending team and got just about anything they would have asked 2 weeks ago. But NO, they pick to keep Kolb and now the downward slide starts to show.

Hope I am wrong, but it would be true Brewer form.

I hope someone asks Ned about that. Adam McCalvy isn't on this trip, I don't think, so our chances of getting the answer straight from the horse's mouth aren't very high.

Yost plays the infield in *a lot*, probably more than most other managers, just from personal observation. I don't know if that's really true, but it sure seems like it. Usually he talks about how we're having trouble scoring runs and he wants to limit the opposing team's runs as much as possible, but that doesn't apply tonight.

I think Ned perhaps has a little too much faith in Dauer's defensive positioning. Bringing the infield in has its place, but it's when allowing a single run loses a game since it increases the odds of multiple runs scoring.

Just a lousy way to lose a game with defensive lapses, a very good pitching performance sabotaged, and some questionable strategy at the end.

At least the Cubs are losing.
