8/11/2004: Brewers (Santos) @ Braves (Hampton)

brettac1

After a thrilling win delivered by Chris Magruder last night, the Crew take on the Braves in the second game of a three game series. Victor the Vampire takes on Mike Hampton. Santos is coming off his worst start of the season last Thursday against the Mets, in which he allowed 9 runs (6 earned) in 3.2 innings at Miller Park. However that was a DAY game, where Victor has struggled this season. At night however, he is 7-4 with a 2.60 ERA spanning 72.2 innings of work in 14 games (12 starts). He is even better on the road, 7-1, 2.50 ERA. In his previous start against the Braves on May 14 (Braves v. Braves night), Santos went 7 shutout innings before the bullpen gave it up in a 2-0 loss. In 10 career starts against the Crew, Hamton is 3-2 with a 2.94 ERA spanning 70.1 IP. He hasn't pitched to well this year (7-8, 4.91), but has rounded into form lately going unbeaten in his last 6 starts. Should be another dandy with the Crew trying to push their streak to three games, and inch closer yet to the magical land of .500. GO CREW!!!!

Well let's hope this game doesn't come down to Chris Magruder hitting a home run to win it. The Vampire takes the mound once again doing his best jeckel and hyde impersonation. But let's hope (and lately pray) that the offense can find a way to outscore our opponents for a third straight game. Go Brewers!

That's a dynamite lineup!!! Here's how I think Yost thought it up:

Counsell and Hall will get either a run or an RBI, Jenkins will hit a homerun, Overbay will hit 4 doubles, Clark will battle for 8 to 10 base hits, Helms will hit 8 homeruns and return my phone calls, Bennett's chin will develop cancer, Scotty Po will break out with a 4 for 4 night with 12 stolen bases.

Matt Wise got taken out of the game by the trainer & Ned.

NOOOOOOOO!!!

Do you all know what this means? It means that useless piece of human debris called Wes Obermueller will get to battle through 2 or 3 innings on Saturday night. Damn, I just might as well get my Gumby Bobblehead and head right back out to the car and head for home.
